There are scientific online polls. Although they have their own problems. I think a lot of these days companies are mixing phone and online polls to mitigate the bad effects of relying solely on either.

Scientific online polls, though, are invite only.

Online polls can certainly increase sampling, which should be a benefit. I've never heard of an invite only poll, but as long as one cannot clear cookies and vote several times, it sounds like a good idea.

The poll was among registered voters which is not a good measure to predict the 2018 vote. The best polls use those "likely to vote."
