i hate the monarchy too but the actual facts are that the crown would actually be OWED money if they were to give up the crown. They own a fuckton of land and lease it to the public. They are funded by 15% of the proceeds that land generates. The crown effectively gives 85% of their money to the people. In exchange they get to parade around in funny clothes and be snobs.
