Funny you think kids have to know about dinosaurs to go to college. They don't even have to know algebra to get in these days. Who knows, maybe they can even get a gaming scholarship for the school's gaming team for which fantasy is kind of a necessity.

We are discussing science, not dinosaurs. Kids have to know about science.... Actual science, how and why we use it. As far as mathematics go, community colleges up through universities require a math placement exam unless the student has scored high on either the ACT or SAT, and/or taken for-credit math classes in h.s. Even as a returning adult student at age 49, I had to take a math placement exam. For the degree I'm currently working towards (Native American Studies) I still have to take at least one 100+ level math course as they decided they would not accept the college algebra course that I took yrs. ago.

LOL! When I heard about the cherry tree story I was in either jr. or senior high, and even then it was mentioned as not an actual event but some sort of parable about honesty.
