RawStory (trash source) seems to be the only one saying Pruitt begged Trump to fire Sessions. I cannot find that story from CNN.

The only CNN report I can find is that: "President Donald Trump floated replacing Attorney General Jeff Sessions with Scott Pruitt as recently as this week, even as the scandal-ridden head of the Environmental Protection Agency has faced a growing list of negative headlines, according to people close to the President."

If anybody deserves negative headlines it is Pruitt. He is a prime example of the "swamp" Trump wanted to drain. Pruitt seems more interested in how much taxpayer money he can spend on his personal lifestyle.
