"Getting along with Russia is a good thing - not a bad thing"

Russia's activities during our election are no longer disputable.
so you wantthat to be the be all and end all..no talking,,no trying to improve relations.

No look to cooperate on Syria, no chance to solve Ukraine...just more and more da Russian hacked..blah blah.
No chance to triangulate against China...

Who said I don't want to improve relations?

We should do it on OUR terms. Not theirs. That's what you're missing - and what you missed w/ Kim.

It's called mature foreign policy. Trump is acting like a naïve child.

so you wantthat to be the be all and end all..no talking,,no trying to improve relations

So relations are frought because...?

Putin invaded and annexed Crimea?
Putin's FSB attacked us and other western democracies?
Putin bombs Syrian civilians?

So Trump's going to improve relations by...apologizing to Putin?

Russia's activities during our election are no longer disputable.

And? Your point is what?

Do you think this is the first time Russia or the Soviet Union has tried to interfere in a US election?

Do you think the US has interfered in other countries elections? Are you OK with that?

Of course Russia tried to interfere in our election. Nobody denies they tried to sow discord. What is disputable was that they colluded with the Trump administration AND had any impact on the election.

Like all issues you lefties try to conflate issues. So in you TDS mind, saying that Trump/Russian collusion is a witch hunt means to you that we don't believe Russia tried to meddle. I am sure you will try to play cute.

Hilarious.

Right up until January 20, 2017, conservative message board posters were complaining that Obama was not standing up to Putin, not being belligerent enough towards him. Some of them even suggested basically going to war over Ukraine.

Hey, Trump boot-lickers, let me know when you stop moving the goal posts and then we can discuss this.

My position is exactly the same before 20 January 2017, as it is today: Russia is an important country, and we should work collaboratively with them were we have mutual interests. We also have the obligation to defend ourselves against efforts to undermine our democratic institutions, against nefarious schemes to undermine our alliances, and to stand up for international law and standards of international conduct.

Russia did hack; 12 of them were indicted for doing so last week.

So Trump's going over there to "improve relations" by...what? By not coming back with those indicted Russians?

If Obama had made a statement by himself that Putin was attacking our country, McConnell and the Conservatives would have politicized it.

That was a calculation on Obama's part; I guess he didn't assume that the GOP would cozy up to Russia if they thought it would help them win the election. Obviously, we know that is the case today.

That is not an argument and purely conjecture. What you claim is not provable. But, thanks for admitting that Obama had no balls and let McCuntell rule him

So?

Are you honestly trying to compare the idea that Russia is no longer our top threat w/ the idea that they should still be treated as an adversary w/ ulterior motives?

It's not that complex, Darth. Nothing about that is contradictory in the slightest. It's just common sense, on both counts.

The lengths you guys go to in order to defend Trump - it's really amazing.
the lengths you go to attack Trump is pure TDS.

Russia isn't our "top enemy" that's China..apparently you don't understand detente either.
If you can't improve relations, you at least learn to cooperate where you can ( realpolitik)
and try to deescalate tensions toward mutual coexistance

Why would McConnell refuse to issue a joint statement about Russian hacking? Easy; because he knew it was happening and was benefiting from it.

So McConnell is a traitor just as much as Trump.

I didn't say Russia was our "top enemy." You read my post wrong.

Sounds like you need to calm down a bit.

Maybe Thingy won't be happy unless Trump declares war on Russia?

:dunno:

Russia is the one who attacked us, not China.

Your guy is in Helsinki right now playing footsie with the leader of the country who attacked us, attacked our elections, and spread propaganda.

OR you're one of those agents yourself, posing as an American here.

WOW that is a tremendous leap Fonzi

you need to differentiate between warmongers/ like Graham/McCain/Kristol and Trump who wants to "get along with Russia.
That was a campaign stance as well.

When the US stops trying to overthrow a government in Ukraine, then get back to me about "international law"
Both sides were in flagrant violation of the Budapest Memorandum

McConnell wouldn't sign on to a joint statement with Obama condemning Russian attacks on our democracy.

Why?
