Actually, the Nazis attempted "National Socialism", wedding nationalism and socialism, as they've said countless times in their writings. But still, that wasn't my point.

in order for them to have an enemy, they need to put a name on it, and they figure the uglier the name the more just their protests are.

I suggested they "tread lightly" for good reason. There is indeed a large faction of really unstable people that Antifa, or their supporters do not want to anger over the edge,
they may not realize that yet, but why push that button

So this is just another variation of the "No True Scotsman" defense. Saying Nazis aren't Nazis because Nazi Germany is gone is a pretty weak sauce argument made by someone very desperate.

Nazis are most certainly still around, and have had Conservatives voting for them.

No, your point was that leftists changed their party affiliation to vote for a Nazi in the GOP Primary in IL just to make Conservatives look bad....or because they were confused about "socialism"...or...?

The GOP nominated a Nazi in Illinois. 20,000 Conservatives voted for the Nazi in the GOP primary. No leftists voted in that one since it was GOP.
