They wrote a Constitution, elected a President, and called themselves The Confederate States of America. THEN THEY LOST.
So at no point were they "Americans" in all that. They were Confederates; traitors and losers.
So….its "selective" outrage? Why leave the statue/monument of Stephan A. Douglas standing in the middle of a northern state when he was one of the biggest supporters of the slave trade? Fact: 95% of the southern people who died in the south never owned a slave, as they could not afford it. Why did they fight? THE NORTH WAS INVADING THEIR HOMELAND.
Fact: Slavery never was a topic of the war until Mr. Lincoln decided to run for a second term with the war between the states well under way. The war began as a STATES RIGHTS issue and morphed into some feigned moral outrage by the north.....when STATES in the NORTH like Maryland was one of the largest slave owning states. The war was not about NORTH and SOUTH.....it was a WAR BETWEEN the fascist democrats and the Republicans. Slavery could have never existed in either the north or the south void of having that majority of the support of THE PEOPLE or else it could never have been law in the first place.
You had many Northern Democrats that supported slavery. Can you present the documented history of one REPUBLICAN POLITICIAN that owned a slave? Slavery was on its way out around the world....the problem the south had was a lack of industrialization. Slavery would have ended under the weight of its cost v. Technology if given time. Again: Slavery was the law of the land because the majority of THE PEOPLE in this nation "allowed" it to exist. It took an attitude adjustment and over 500000 American Lives to finally accept slavery and flesh peddling as the immoral sin that it was. Truth never evolved......all people are still created equal....its LIFE itself that defines what happens after birth. In a representative constitutional republic that is governed by the majority will of the people.....all laws reflect that will.
One thing is for sure....ALL THE CIVIL RIGHTS THAT EXIST TODAY.....had to come about by the moral choice of the same damn majority that you are attempting to chastise....as there could be no amendments to the Constitution ending Slavery and addressing the rights of women and minorities to be accepted as property owning righteous voters of this Republic. Do know which party fought tooth and nail well into the 1960s to stop the civil liberties now enjoyed by women and minorities? THE DAMN DEMOCRAT PARTY who once held a 70 day filibuster to stop a vote on the civil rights act in the 1960s.

Yes, history does have a wrong and right side. The wrong side was the side in favor of slavery. The Civil Rights Act passed because of the pressure placed upon the Senate by LBJ (who needed the BLACK VOTE and decided to purchase the Black vote with this CIVIL RIGHTS ACT)…..JFK and the rest of the party voted against the CIVIL RIGHTS ACT in the late 50s.....
