He then employs a bunch of people to make this happen. The workers benefit from wages, consumers (including the workers) benefit from the product or service, and the smart guy benefits by making money that he can give to others.
The definition of ‘thing’ is “an inanimate material object as distinct from a living sentient being.” Love is not an inanimate material object.

If you removed all French people, you could still find them. If you removed all Russians, you could still find them. If you removed all musicians, you could still find them. The question is, could you find even one if rich capitalists had never existed? If so, what modern, full time, wage-paying job would that be?
Incidentally, I bought a car by trading my bike. No money or credit was exchanged. I've also traded artwork for various things.

We are no more (and no one is proposing) a completely socialist economy than we are a completely capitalist economy...nor should we be.
We have a blended economy. We have socialist policies like Social Security and Medicare and Medicaid and public education and much much more...and we have private enterprise .

The real discussion is and should be "How much socialism do we want?" and it should be engaged in cooling and reasonably.

That’s the latest ‘fad’ expression going around. A few of your socialist comrades came up with that one and you’re busy repeating it like a good little commie. The reason you have ten thousand capitalist products in your home (including your phone, iPad, computer, TV, car), and not one that is the result of socialism, is because capitalism owns you like a pimp owns a whore. It’s your drug and you can’t go two inches without it. From the moment you get out of your capitalist bed in the morning, put on your capitalist slippers, make your way to your capitalist bathroom to use your capitalist toothbrush, shower, shampoo, towel and scales, before sitting at your capitalist dining table and devouring your capitalist sugar flakes, belching, reading your Pravda, scratch your arse and drink your capitalist coffee, you are utterly dependent on capitalism.
All your talk about socialism is actually about theft. You have voted for ways to steal money off business and naïvely believe this is helping you. It isn’t. It only makes your life worse. Let’s back up and go through everything you just did to see how much better things would have been without your stupid socialist inspired theft. For a start the coffee would be much better, and cost about a tenth its present price. The cup it’s in would be a much nicer, better quality one. The sugary flakes you eat would not exist because you would not be addicted to sugar thanks to much better education and pharmaceuticals. Instead you would have a beautiful plate of artificial eggs and bacon delivered by a robot. It would be made perfectly and taste like heaven. Your experience in the bathroom would be very different too. A machine would clean your teeth in about twenty seconds, removing all plaque, bacteria and leaving your mouth fresh and sparkling. The shower would be an amazing experience too, with advanced plumbing you can only dream of. Looking in the mirror you would see a much younger and slimmer you. Backwards to the bed. Your slippers would not be necessary because your heated floor would be spotless and constantly so, and your bed would be far better for your back. Your linen would be perfectly clean too, and free of all the tiny critters you currently sleep with. The reason you don’t enjoy all those things is because you constantly find ways to steal from business, thus holding them back. You call this theft “a blended economy”, which is mind-numbingly dumb.
You have a blend of capitalism and theft. The more theft you legalize the less comforts and health you will have.
Translation: You have thieves stealing money from business. That only slows down business and makes everything more expensive.
