So on Monday, Ford's lawyer categorically stated that her client would testify in front of the Judiciary Committee. She did not bring up any conditions whatsoever. In fact, she sounded confident and ready to go.

But, now the story has changed after the Judiciary Committee granter her her wish.

No, now she wants the FBI to investigate. Well, why does it have to be the FBI?

Why can't she just fly back home and file a complaint with the local police department and have them launch an investigation? Why leave her fate up to the FBI? She has other options if she really wants this investigated.

But, we are obviously speaking of a crime right? An alleged crime? My point is that if the poor Mrs Ford doesn't feel like she is getting a fair shake from the current administration, wouldn't it be within her power to go to Maryland and file a complaint that then would start an investigation by local police?

I am sure that George Soros would pay for her to fly to Maryland to get this done. Don't you?

Almost everyone except the cretin right-wingers want the BI re-opened to investigate a new allegation.

It should happen...but probably won't, because Donald Trump pretty much has to give his okay for it to happen.

But that means we'd have to delay Bretty's confirmation until after that investigation is done and the Senate JC holds hearings on it.

Let's presume that your assumption is correct and that the GOP is blocking the FBI from investigating. That doesn't mean she doesn't have options. Why should she let that thwart her efforts to have it investigated? Surely the FBI isn't the ONLY investigative body to be able to do this work right?

What is stopping her from having the town in which this occurred opening an investigation pronto? Nothing is stopping that right?

I would love to see the local police investigate this and give it its just do. Don't you?

The FBI is the body entrusted with BI's on high appointees.

The investigation should be by the FBI...as part of its BI on Kavanaugh.

If I'm not mistaken the statue of limitations would prevent a local jurisdiction from getting involved

Bigger question is why is the GOP in such a hurry? Take the two to three weeks and do it properly, it is a life time appointment, they have all the votes they need, so why not give it the time it deserves? Otherwise, it might appear the only reason might they are in rush is that they are actually afraid the lady is telling the truth and Bret won't be approved

What's her problem? Dems want the delay. I'm sure they have a Plan B.

the democrats stupidly thought republicans would back down merely by using this floozy as a threat. Instead republicans called their bluff and they immediately folded. The FBI request is a way for them to save face because democrats don't want her to testify as her story is full of shit.

I still think it's hilarious that you guys think all of this is a negative w/ potential backlash for Dems. I'm not sure if you can see how this looks to a good solid half of the voting public.

I already spoke to this in my insightful post in APP

They thought all they had to do was throw this out there and they would peel off Flake, Corker, Collins and Murkowski. But, it blew up in their faces. People seem to forget that on Monday Ford's lawyer came out publicly and stated emphatically that her client was ready willing and able to testify in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee. At no time during her interview with CNN did she broach ANY preconditions.

It was only after the GOP offered her an opportunity to testify that she started back tracking.

Okay...how does that impact on whether or not a re-opening of the BI is appropriate?

Not at all...as far as I can see.

The extension of the BI makes a hell of a lot more sense than just rushing the nominee through.

As far as delays are concerned...how many of the assholes here bitching about it...bitched about the year long delay the Republicans pulled off?

WOW, what a great point you are making. I guess you are as uninformed as your other left wing friends on here.

Here are the options being afforded to Christine BALLSY Ford

1) She can testify in public
2) She can testify in private
3) Grassley has offered to fly the Senate Judicial Committee to her in order to meet with her
4) Grassley offered to have a phone call with Ford with Feinstein on the call as well

Four options have been afforded to this woman and she has denied them all

As to the politics of this. I can guarantee this. If she declines to come forward and Kavanaugh is confirmed AND the democrats have a hissy fit and pull some crazy shit like have her do an interview on 60 minutes a week before the election, the democrats will get fucking crushed in the mid terms.

You guys always walk around with these faulty assumptions because you live in a fucking bubble. You can't for one second wrap your brain around the fact that people think differently than you. You live in this binary world where one either believes Ford or they support rape.

Let me break this down for you. No serious person in this country supports rape or sexual assault. Anyone who claims that that is true is not to be taken seriously. But, Americans as a whole are fundamentally fair. While they can agree that these are serious charges, it is only natural that they will question the following

1) Why did she wait until now to come forward?
2) Why if she didn't want to come forward did she voluntarily go to the Washington Post and a democrat lawmaker? What was her goal in going to them if she wanted to be anonymous?
3) Why did her lawyer say she would testify and then retract it?


You are living in this fantasy land of METOO where ALL women vote with their vaginas and are just going to believe this woman no matter what.

Need I remind you of the 2016 election? How many broads did your side trot out trying to take down Trump? Women who accused him of assault, Meees Peeegy, and of course the infamous Access Hollywood tape. Every single one of these were supposed to cause Trump to tank with women. Women were going to flock to Clinton and crush Trump. IT DIDN'T FUCKING HAPPEN.
