and that of course, is the simplest solution........simply state that every single person who tries to cross the border illegally will be permanently barred from receiving a visa........

You can tell "legion" has never been in the service

They are active National Guard, not RA, for the President to send the Army anywhere domestically is a constitutional boondoggle. Now I hope I don't have to explain to him what an active duty Natioanl Guard is and what is their role in the military

If they are coming to official points of entry to apply for refugee status why would they have to tear down fences?

The additional troops are to provide what one official described as logistical support to the Border Patrol. This would include a variety of things such as vehicles, tents and equipment, and perhaps medical support. It was not immediately clear how many, if any, of the extra troops would be armed. Because they would not be performing law enforcement duties they would not be in violation of the Posse Comitatus Act, which prohibits the federal government from using the armed forces in a domestic police role.

A defense official confirmed to Military Times that Defense Secretary Jim Mattis will send 800 active-duty troops, not National Guard forces, to bolster the roughly 2,100 National Guardsmen who have already been positioned at the U.S.-Mexico border. These added forces will be providing administrative duties, not law enforcement.

In other words, pretty much standing around

100% political deflection on Trump's part, the more he can keep the focus on and demonize the Caravan the less he has to respond to things as Saudi Arabia, the MAGA bomber, real immigration reform, the volatile Stock Market, etc. Just another "law and order" theme on a grander scale
