Conservative speakers were being harassed on college campuses long before Trump announced his candidacy. If you are against gay marriage you’re morally defective. Etc, etc, etc.

If there has been a decrease in civility, Trump didn’t invent it and the left has been leading the charge—and it’s been going on for years—better part of a decade, actually.

My point is the softball shooting was a bigger story because it’s a miracle no one was killed. It easily could have been a mass assassination. It’s plausibe—if not likely, the Fake Bomber was using a scare tactic. If he didn’t know what he was doing he was just as likely to blow himself up in making the devices as he was in killing his alleged targets.

"Trumplicans" and calling the president "Rump" are we supposed to take anything that you posted as serious political debate? That seems like something that a schoolyard bully would do.

I agree. The office must be respected regardless of what we think of the office holder. We cannot have an honest debate which includes petty name-calling.

I haven't heard anyone defending the bomber. I certainly would not. I think that we should be giving accolades to the federal agencies that were able to make an arrest so quickly.

Well, they totally lucked out because the bomber left a fingerprint on one of the devices, and the idiot already had priors, with his prints on file. But they certainly did do a good job of following through on their incredibly good fortune. Luckily the perp was an idiot; not meticulous enough to be a pro.

I do think that it is odd that a dozen bombs were manufactured and delivered (or attempted to be delivered) and not a single one went off. That's a pretty lousy bomb maker.

From what I've heard, none of the packages were opened. They were probably rigged to go off upon opening. The US Postal service has guidelines for identifying suspicious packages. A postal worker did single out one of the packages and alert authorities. Also, most high level public figures have diligent screening practices in place to intercept unknown and possibly risky mail. It has been a long time since the Unabomber, but the lessons learned have never been forgotten.
