Has a Brexit deal been done?

Labour is out of power. There is no way for them to return to power anytime soon. The line of conservatives behind May are all brexiters in some shape or form. The only hope for a second referendum would be if May's government fell and the Queen instructed Corbyn to form a new minority government. Even then, Labour doesn't have enough seats to govern, has its own Brexit camp, and would not likely pick up any Tory support among their remainers simply because of the castle coup against their party.

The conservatives are wiping themselves out for three generations again - it's getting to be a habit. The population is swinging against their absurd posturing very, very fast. Mr Corbyn, alas, tends to be brexit-ish. If MPs have the guts to vote these nutters down, Labour will undoubtedly win with a biggish majority anyway, but it may be too late.

I'm hearing that the Spaniards are going to throw a Spaniard in the works over Gibraltar.

The arrogant Brits think that they can coolly keep a chunk of Spain.

It is too late. There is no way to beat the deadline. If the Labour party would win with a biggish majority, the Tories are not going to be onboard with a no confidence vote and even if May were to call for a general election, getting that through parliament would be a very high hurdle to overcome due to the Fixed Term act. 2 weeks to no confidence becoming finalized would put it into December. Six weeks to a new election would push into january. January 21st is the deadline to have a brexit deal to Parliament and March 11th is the drop dead date to get EU approval before the March 29th door slams shut. There is no room in that calendar for a second referendum.

Do you see the brexit-nutters setting up a military dictatorship in the time? Let's face it, you boys are buggered. They will have to beg for time to do something! :)

I see what I have said from the beginning--there will be a hard Brexit. The Irish border is about about the only thing resolvable via a sub zone.

Only a tiny minority of sado-masochists with money abroad want a hard brexit. Unless people are out of their heads, there will be a new referendum. I'm against such European crap meself, but that's all we've got left.

Of course you're far too stupid to realise that the EU would stop much of Corbyn's agenda under state subsidy rules.

Doesn't matter if they want a hard brexit or not. There are too many cats to herd, and as I have said before, the EU is not going to let the UK exit without british fingers slammed in the door to discourage the other countries that are considering it from even thinking about it again.

The main question is whether the EU will let us back in. I doubt it rather.

Nobody in their right mind wants to be part of the Eurozone, well apart from Welsh fools like Iolo of course.

Also most of the English, most of the Scots, most of the Northern Irish and most of the Free Irish. You're part of a scared and xenophobic minority, maggot. They'll be a-coming to get ya.

Who can tell. If you're up Shit Creek without a paddle, strange things occur.

More or less. From what I have read, a British re-entry would likely require the UK to give up the pound, forfeit all the special exceptions it carved out for itself in the original Brexit design, and surrender completely to EU laws and regulations. Likely one of the reasons many who voted to remain think that they now have no choice but to exit--staying would have a high price as well.

The Brexiteers will just say they are making it all up and go on demanding Christmas every day at EU expense as nature intended. I am practicing my Irish accent: there are lots of Irish people in this Valley from whom I can claim descent when I apply for citizenship! :)

Hey. If Iolo is from Wales, ask him if he ever heard of Llangerig, Montgomeryshire, Wales. I've got a distant relative that came over here in 1708 (with his 10 kids and wife) from there. His name was Richard George and he was a Quaker (Society of Friends).
