Former KKK leader David Duke endorsed Hawaii Democrat Tulsi Gabbard

Any modern slavery in America is illegal, underground, and as far as we know, has nothing to do with race.

I don't know that "modern slavery in America has nothing to do with race," and neither do you.

We shouldn't forget about slavery, but black people should stop thinking that it's still holding them back.

Think so?

Perhaps you should proselytize that viewpoint in person to those who feel they may still be affected by the racism endemic to antebellum slavery. I'd suggest that you try convincing the crowds on Martin Luther King Boulevard. There's sure to be a street by that name near you.

How do you know Trump was "pretending?" :dunno:

Read it and weep, leggie. He knew about Duke in 1991 and 2000; in 2015, "I don't know anything about him." :D

Although it's possible he just has a failing memory.

1991

CNN’s Larry King: “Did the David Duke thing bother you? Fifty-five percent of the whites in Louisiana voted for him.”

Trump:
“I hate seeing what it represents, but I guess it just shows there’s a lot of hostility in this country. There’s a tremendous amount of hostility in the United States.”

2000

“The Reform Party now includes a Klansman, Mr. Duke, a neo-Nazi, Mr. [Patrick] Buchanan, and a communist, Ms. [Lenora] Fulani. This is not company I wish to keep.”
— Trump, in a statement saying he will not accept the Reform Party nomination for president, Feb. 13, 2000

2015

Bloomberg’s John Heilemann: “How do you feel about the David Duke quasi-endorsement?”

Trump:
“I don’t need his endorsement; I certainly wouldn’t want his endorsement. I don’t need anyone’s endorsement.”

Heilemann
: “Would you repudiate David Duke?”

Trump:
“Sure, I would do that, if it made you feel better. I don’t know anything about him. Somebody told me yesterday, whoever he is, he did endorse me. Actually I don’t think it was an endorsement. He said I was absolutely the best of all of the candidates.”

Not sure how you "know" that in light of the fact that modern slavery exists, but are you positing that segments of American history should be forgotten as soon as the last living witness to an event dies?

How about this history

So you say.

Well if you only consider sites to be trustworthy if they parrot your own beliefs back to you, then sure, you can dismiss Politifact.
That's Postmodern Conservatism in a nutshell.

Is that so? Who told you that?

The KKK votes Republican these days, and have done so for decades. When Klansmen run for office, they do it as Republicans.
Now does that mean the GOP is the cause of the KKK still being around? Of course not. Just like the DNC isn't the cause of the KKK's creation.

I don't know that "modern slavery in America has nothing to do with race," and neither do you.
Which is why I said as far as we know. Assuming there is a racial element with no evidence would be moronic. Surely you're not moronic.

Perhaps you should proselytize that viewpoint in person to those who feel they may still be affected by the racism endemic to antebellum slavery. I'd suggest that you try convincing the crowds on Martin Luther King Boulevard. There's sure to be a street by that name near you.

We'd have much better luck building a white ethnostate.

What Christiecrite seems unwilling to do is to accept that it's possible for President Trump to be a good person, David Duke to be a bad person, and for Trump to be supported by Duke.

You're right. I'm unwilling to accept that it's possible for trump to be a good person. What I can accept is that sometimes bad people can do good things. Capisce? :D

Well if you only consider sites to be trustworthy if they parrot your own beliefs back to you, then sure, you can dismiss Politifact.

If I'd said I only consider sites to be trustworthy if they parrot my own beliefs back to me, you'd have a point.

Since I didn't, you don't.

The KKK votes Republican these days, and have done so for decades. When Klansmen run for office, they do it as Republicans.

Is that so? Who told you that?

Assuming there is a racial element with no evidence would be moronic.

As would the converse.
