Every government intervention is to control behaviors. The point I made was about compliance. If you stand to save 70% taxes by hiding income, it becomes worth the risk. At 40-50% it's not worth the risk to try to avoid taxes. There's a certain point where too many people would attempt to cheat. It would be at that point where cheating would be rampant that a decrease in tax rates would result in less cheating. The math isn't hard from there. I guess you must believe that people will pay any tax rate no matter how high you make it.
The "cheating" would be things like loopholes and credits and stuff, correct?
So why not eliminate those pathways while also raising marginal rates?
This isn't government intervention, this is about how behavior needs to be controlled in order for Conservative policy to function. Every variable has to be controlled in order for Conservative policy "to work".

I've been behind converting our energy from fossil fuels to green since at least 2000. Supported Obama's green initiative in the ARRA. Supported the Paris Climate Accords. Support a Green New Deal. We have plenty of money to convert our energy sector, the problem is that most of it is in a very few limited hands.
