ALL NYC Public Schools go to "meatless mondays". Forced vegetarianism

If the tax money is flowing to the local govt. entity, it doesn't matter whether the landlord is paying it or the renter, it's still being paid. Cities/counties are not about to let a piece of property that's being used and generating income to sit there idly not rendering unto Caesar. Look at it this way. If you buy a house to fix up and rent out, the minute you sign the closing docs you will start accruing property taxes on that. Doesn't matter whether you ever rent it out; as long as you own it, you'll pay taxes on it. You can charge back the taxes in the form of rent to your tenant, but you still have to pay the piper. Your tenant only pays you. You're responsible for paying the govt. what is owed. If you don't pay, you can forfeit the property.

My point is everyone should pay school taxes, property owners/landlords, and renters. Instead of a school property tax then how about a household school tax? I don't know the answer it just bothers me that I am paying school taxes when others don't. It's really a minor issue and not worth arguing over.

The best bit? He knows he's on ignore and he posts anyhow.
It doesn't get more desperate than that.

It's true. His racist friend Toxic is almost as bad. Too cowardly to respond to my comments directly, instead she copies them into another thread hoping that her band of bullies will join in. Somehow the fact that I reply to her in a discussion indicates that I want to have her baby or something. This has been going on for literally years. No wonder they support Trump. Derps, the lot of 'em.

I don't think you understand. *Everyone* is paying "school taxes." Everyone. Even if you rent, a portion of your monthly payment to your landlord is set aside for property ("School") taxes. I think the only time these taxes are not being paid is when 1) the city or other entity has granted a tax waiver to a business or (in some places) to very elderly ppl, or 2) the property has been sitting vacant, taxes unpaid, and the owners can't be found. In the latter case, eventually the city will auction it off to cover the taxes owed. I think there might be a third exemption to property taxes for religious organizations' properties.

You're right, it's not an issue to get verklempt over. Rest assured that even if the guy living in the house across the street from you is merely renting, the owner of that house is paying property taxes ("school taxes") the same as you are. No one's getting off the hook.

You do realize, don't you, that private landlords own section 8 properties? Unless they've been given a waiver by the local governmental entity, the landlords are paying property taxes on their rental buildings. In the case of HUD-owned properties, the fed. agency is paying those taxes.

No everyone is not paying school taxes! If the landlord is charging the renter for the property taxes then the renter is paying the taxes not the landlord. You are misunderstanding the landlord is paying the taxes physically but in reality the renter is fronting the money.

Thank you, excellent post. Why does something as simple as providing our kids with nutritious, decent food have to be polilticized? I'm reminded of all the flak that Michelle Obama got for her FLOTUS promotion of exercise, nutrition, and health for our children. It was relentless. The shrill screeches from the Reichwing sound a lot like the comments in this thread.

Because it's not about the food it's about the "minority parents" demanding white people feed their kids

This is the republican agenda. It's why they enact the policies they do.

Why do we even serve food at schools??

Used to be parents packed a meal for the kids and that was it.

"Used to be"...???

Exactly how old are you? Like, ninety eight?

I remember schools serving lunches clear back to when I was in elementary school.

And I routinely purchased school lunches, as did many other white kids - maybe even most white kids.

Concerning vegetables: I have had the displeasure of seeing crowds at Trump rallies. There is a lot of blubber, beer guts, excess flab, and morbid obesity at those rallies. I suggest Trump boot-lickers consider eating more vegetables and fruits, and less pork rinds, corn dogs, cheese burgers, and deep fried twinkies.

In the case of renters, the property owners pay the property taxes. I imagine the cost of the taxes is calculated into the price of the rent charged.

Of course it is.

That thang probably has never owned apiece of property.

I sware, the racist right is really dumb.

It's not a minor issue.

IT'S NOT ABOUT THE MEAT IT'S ABOUT BLACKS GETTING FREE LUNCH!

You all need to stop focusing on the cover up of the meatless Monday.

He even told you so. When a racist shows you who they are believe them!

Not only do they not pay the taxes that fund schools, where they live is funded by taxes they don't pay.
