This is just stupid chest pounding that a normal President would deescalate instead of escalate. We declared the Iranian Guard a terrorist organization, they issued a response. This is all Bolton and his stupidity and his wishing for war with Iraq since 2003. There is a lot of wagging the dog going here as well. Domestic trouble at home, create an international incident. This is exactly what Putin and Kim would love, our going to war with Iran.

Late Sunday night, the White House made the surprise announcement that the USS Abraham Lincoln and a bomber task force were being deployed in response to unspecified "troubling and escalatory indications and warnings."

A statement from national security adviser John Bolton said the deployments were intended "to send a clear and unmistakable message to the Iranian regime that any attack on United States interests or on those of our allies will be met with unrelenting force."

"The United States is not seeking war with the Iranian regime, but we are fully prepared to respond to any attack, whether by proxy, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, or regular Iranian forces," the statement continued."

Why do you think the US spends such enormous sums on its military, hugely more than any other country? It seems to me that any real threat to the real US is tiny.

I DON'T support the US going into ANOTHER Mid East War and using American Soldiers as Pawns for Saudi Arabia and Israel because they don't want to use THEIR citizens to die.

If any country attacks the US Military then we should turn that country into a glass bowl. So yes if we need to protect our troops and interest then we hit those responsible! You mean like the way Obama deescalated? "U.S. military forces have been at war for all eight years of Obama’s tenure, the first two-term president with that distinction. He launched airstrikes or military raids in at least seven countries: Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Libya, Yemen, Somalia and Pakistan."

Gee Phan why was it good then but not good now? Could it be your hatred of Trump overrides your concern for our fighting men and women? And if I'm not mistaken didn't ISIS grow and take more territory after we pulled most of our troops out of Iraq? Then didn't we have to send troops back in to retake areas we had already taken?

I'm sorry but Iran poses the biggest threat to stabilizing the ME. This whole brouhaha is nothing but saber rattling.

Ever hear of the Gulf of Tonkin incident? Can you point to one made up attack on US forces that was used to escalate our combat presence since then?
