My generation did not have the access to guns that is available today. Occasionally I saw a rifle or shotgun in the back window of a pickup truck, but other than movies or TV that was it. As kids we all played at each other's houses. The only gun owner we knew of was the next-door neighbor who was a big-game hunter. He kept his locked in a safe in his locked den in the basement. He showed us his trophy heads one time. I never saw a handgun till I was an adult.
Kids can easily get firearms today and use them to solve their problems.... whether the solution is suicide, or homicide.
Pineapples....lol...a case![]()
My kids (ages 32 - 44) all played them, but we didn't have many of the "action" ones other than Duke Nukem. A bittersweet memory: My youngest, she of tender heart, spent hours playing Duke when she was 14. I asked her why and she said that she was practicing for high school. She's now a special ed. teacher in a non-secure public school. In fact, her room fronts right on the street where parking is. Scares the living out of me.
Bullshit. Guns were much easier to get years ago, and they were far cheaper (they make great investments). No checks, hell, you could mail order one from Sears.
Nope. Wasn't my gun club. As I told your raving lunatic friend RB long, long ago, Mr. Owl competed in target shooting competitions long before I knew him. The private gun club was his baby. I just went there a couple of times with him. I have never fired a shotgun; not sure where you got that idea. I have two that belonged to my late husband, as well as a few handguns. The only one of those I've shot is a Taurus .357. Mr. Owl does his own reloading; he made special light rounds for that gun so the recoil doesn't hurt my hands as badly. If it were up to me we would own no guns. But he had many before we met; it's not fair to demand that he get rid of them now. I gave him mine as well.
That's what she saidHmmm, are you referring to your "lil arsenal"? Oh, and I know of no gun club that would allow shooting at a case of pineapples by anyone.

Hoo shoots pineapples....Doesn't she?

I know you don't. But you know what? You don't know jack about a lot of things. I even gave you the link one time to the gun club, which is privately-owned. People often brought odd things there to shoot at. As long as you cleaned up your mess it was fine. You had the opportunity to call and ask and obviously didn't take it.
Now we live in the midst of hundreds of miles of forest; we could have our own gun range on our property like our neighbors down the road do. But the guns haven't left the safe since we moved here. Some of us aren't quite as enraptured with them as others.
But she shot pineapples....that's what she saidAll gun clubs are privately owned. I know what I see and I've seen it at every gun club I've shot at. Every reputable (and those holding sanctioned shooting events) gun club has signs saying "paper targets only" at rifle and pistol ranges.
Some of us find the shooting sports enjoyable and take our marksmanship skills seriously. We can, it's our constitutional right, and we do.

IndeedIsn't it hypocritical to call me and other law abiding gun owners and believers in the 2nd amendment gunhumpers when Mr. Owl is just like us law abiding gun owners?
No offense meant but isn't it hypocritical to call me and other law abiding gun owners and believers in the 2nd amendment gunhumpers when Mr. Owl is just like us law abiding gun owners?

There is a big difference between Mr. Owl, someone who owns firearms and thinks of them as mere tools, and ppl like we see here on JPP bleating about their firepower, cold dead hands, civil war, shooting ppl they don't agree with, and resisting *any* attempt to enact sensible restrictions on the ownership of certain types of firearms. You sound more like Mr. Owl. I don't recall you mentioning that you own a firearm(s); you certainly don't run around bragging about your firepower like some we know.
