My wife likes to watch Lester Holt and the NBC Nightly News as well Savanah Guthrie and the NBC morning show and all they’ve had on is discussion about this shooting. I don’t sit there and watch this stuff with her so I can’t speak to what their discussions on the air are about but I know it’s on. In fact I asked her at one point “is this all they are going to talk about?” My thinking being you continually give these kids publicity and it just inspires the next round of shooters

Which I agree with. If it were done by the media for every fucked in the head shooter. We all know that is not the case.

I actually agree with that since there’s an obvious copycat element to it.

Imagine if it were done by kids in MAGA hats—it would still be a big story.

They were still talking about it this morning on NBC. The issue with the school shootings to them is the guns. They’re not going to stop talking about gun restrictions because in this case the shooters were liberals.

But you’re right, if the shooter is deemed to be on the political right they will go after them more along with the guns.

My point has more to do with media bias.

Granted, I consume a lot more media online than I do cable news so maybe they talk about it more than I realize.

I don’t watch cable news but the Today Show and NBC Nightly News I think would qualify as “Mainstream Media” and they were definitely covering it. (Over covering it IMO.)

That’s actually a serious question, as hard as it is to believe. Makes one wonder what kind of questions will be taken seriously ten years from now.

I'm sure it caused a stir in the region where it happened. But to most Americans, it was just another day.

It's funny/depressing. People who are old enough to remember the Columbine shooting talk about it like it was this life changing thing. Growing up in the time I am, I can't imagine people feeling that way about a shooting. There are so many, who can even keep track of them, much less think it's a wake up call?
