Maine votes out electoral college

If you are a party that routinely cannot convince the majority/plurality of American voters that your ideas are superior, then there is no way you should nevertheless be rewarded with a stranglehold on the federal government.

I wouldn't feel good about the Democratic Party routinely losing the national vote, but still being given control of the federal government.

There are grown adults, GenXers, today who only have a memory of Republicans winning the national vote one single time in their lives.

You wouldn't say a damn thing about Democrats winning the EC without winning the popular vote.

I guess it's your fault you hate the Constitution. We tried to teach you better. Perhaps being a dumb nigger meant you couldn't learn.

You got any in mind?

Not partisan trash anyone can recognize as biased by simply reading the headlines. Try the WA Post, NYT, Allsides.com....

To suggest birth control will soon be illegal in red states is just irresponsible pandering

The ELECTORAL COLLEGE is not under STATE JURISDICTION. Maine can do no such thing.

Leftidiots gobble up whatever BULLSHIT they are SPOONFED BY THEIR MASTERS, no matter HOW RIDICULOUS and/or ASININE....

You are an idiot. There is no principled argument that can be made in support of an electoral college. That's why you rant like a lunatic.
Just say "it's bad but I like it anyway because I'm a loser hillbilly and I think it works to my redneck advantage"

at least you'd get an honesty point, dumbass.

And still, they're working toward it. Not familiar with Allsides, but the other two have paywalls that I don't particularly care to deal with.

Althea just made that shit up.
Hobby Lobby, while investing in companies that make the contraception devices they don't allow their employees to acquire, got an exemption to deny contraceptives to their employees via the health insurance they offer.

Wrong again. Hobby Lobby only sought to not provide three abortifacient drugs, as well as the IUD, through it's employee health insurance plan. Their plan still covers contraceptives. Did you really not know that?

They invest in the company that makes IUDs. What are you calling 'contraceptives'? Condoms?

Do you have a source for that? I suspect it's hyperbole concerning some mutual fund with a bazillion holdings.

Contraceptives, ie, birth control pills.

This is nothing but a way to circumvent the constitution's electoral college, and give the most populist states an unfair advantage over less populated states. One major effect would be that candidates would focus on the bigger states and ignore the smaller states. This is nothing more than an attempt by blue states to institute mob rule.

ADDED: This would also remove the power of the House and Senate from electing the president if the 270 vote threshold was not reached.

I have said it before in this thread. I think that Maine has far more pressing things to be concerned about than this. Like maybe how DHHS is now trash and lets kids die that are in foster care? Or, how about maybe fixing the system so that kids with disabilities don't have to fight tooth and nail to get and keep Medicaid so that they can maintain their services? Or how about maybe fixing the goddamned roads so that you don't have to worry about falling to CHINA whenever you see a freaking pothole?

This bill has nothing to do with anything federal. It only has to do with how Maine and other states in this stupid pact handle their Electoral College votes.

If Hobby Lobby had not changed their insurance policy to meet the ACA mandates they would not have to provide any free birth control to employees. Most companies did not change policies and therefore did not have to meet ACA mandates. Hobby Lobby chose to make that decision.

They were simply allowed to make the same arrangement as all religious organizations---the employees still get all the same free birth control but those methods they oppose are paid by the government rather than the employers.

I’ll admit my ignorance on contraception but how can Hobby Lobby tell if someone is taking contraception? Do they test women at work?

Hobby Lobby employees receive all the mandated contraceptives under the ACA. But Hobby Lobby does not pay for the objectionable methods from their insurance but are paid by government funding (like religious organizations are allowed to do).

How exactly does a woman you don't know, never seen or even care about effect you or you're familes life when she has an abortion?

Be specific.
How does a baker rejecting a homosexual's request to bake his wedding cake affect you and your family? be specific.
