California becomes first state to ban hairstyle discrimination

Wait until someone gets a chunk of deep fried weave, spicy, with their order. Things will change;)

Say I own a private business and I don't want any of my employees wearing their hair in braids. This law would restrict me from banning braids in my own business. And even if it has nothing to do with race, they're treating it like a racial issue. Whites and Asians also braid their hair, but this is making it like braids are an exclusive black thing.

If you own a private business, you should be able to set the dress standards, including hairstyles, for your employees.

What's next, saying a business can't tell someone they can't come to work drunk or high?

He is right, though. This is just more restriction against who we can do business with.

Nope, it eliminates in one more way refusal to do business. If something demonstrates a strong affinity to a particular race, as most would agree
"locs" do, then you can't use that as the basis to refuse. To say white people wear those style too, which is a question of fact, and it is totally fair
discussion to have, but it doesn't get you anywhere if you are trying to say this is burdensome on commerce, because a white person choosing to do so would
presumably be protected as well.

You people are dumb. Just ask me.

What if I want this refusal to do business? If it's a private company, why shouldn't I have that right?

California was just hit with a 6.4 magnitude earthquake. Maybe the earth is telling them enough is enough lol.

I sure wouldn't hire this

I doub't you would either.

I wouldn't give that an interview.

What if I don't want to do business with people who only wear their hair in braids?

Then you are fucked. Open business in Idaho which presumably errs on the side of still allowing employers to be racist assholes.
We've made the concerted decision to be open, forward thinking and acting, and accepting of all humans. Sorry!

Some people will choose not to conduct business with a company that does not appear to be serious/professional. Bad hair and the presence of tattoos, for example, are generally seen to be unprofessional (because they are).

You people are so stupid. When I read an article that cites a statute, the first thing I do is look at the text, read the statutory framework,
and see what this text does to amend the scheme, then think about the effects.

Cf you children. The first thing you do is to get outraged, have a tantrum and post pictures of aryans with ethnic hair.
Aren't you even marginally aware you are being manipulated by the media? Go to the source material and read it, often times you
will find your prejudicial outrage will be diminished through the power of knowledge. Try it ONCE.

Because your right to swing your fists ends at my nose. Think about it.
Notice I didn't say that I don't understand your argument, which boils down to
"My right to be an irrational asshole trumps another person's ability to have my job offering"
California disagrees. There are alternatives in 49 states. Furthermore, you can refuse admittance
of hairstyles into your home if you desire, but not in PUBLIC commerce.

So basically, no freedom of association. Bullshit like this is why Trump is going to get reelected.
