He bought his AK-47 assault rifle legally in Nevada, and there is some preliminary reporting that there is White Nationalist garbage on his social media.
There is no point jumping to conclusions, but I see no reason that citizens need to have access to AK-47s which are not a hunting weapon and are a subpar choice for defending home and property.
Yes, it has been reported he bought it in Nevada legally, just as it's been reported he hated Christians and Democracy and he wasn't white. It's also been reported, like many (not every) who have used semi-auto rifles in their carnage, he was a millennial. Which (again) raises the question of why, when I took my (as many of my friends did) hunting rifles to school, we never did stupid shit like these kids are doing. And, it was far easier to get guns back then.
I'm no big fan of the AK-47, not even the AR-15 (although there were some who used the AR-15 in hi-power rifle competitions). My preferences are my M1-A or my tried and true M-1 Garand, both actual military issued weapons, both having superior down-range energy and firing a larger dia. projectile.
Would I use either as a home defense weapon? Not really, I prefer my single action Ruger Blackhawk in .45 LC, but that's me.
OK, so we ban these evil "assault" rifles you have no understanding of (yep, the Ruger 10-22, with a few easily obtained cosmetic modifications
look just like an "assault weapon") and these kids just choose another weapon, where does it end? Semi-auto handguns? Semi-auto shotguns? My extremely accurate long-range hunting rifles?
You see some of these kids (and irresponsible adults) screaming gun control, but why can't these same kids pay more attention to their fellow kids? After all, kids see more of themselves (and their social media) than adults do, for the most part. Don't they bear some of the responsibility themselves, rather than my M1-A?
