Trump stabbing is own rubes

It’s really, really getting bad out here,” said Bob Kuylen, who’s farmed for 35 years in North Dakota.

“Trump is ruining our markets. No one is buying our product no more, and we have no markets no more.”

Zippy Duvall, president of the American Farm Bureau Federation, said China’s exit is a “body blow to thousands of farmers and ranchers who are already struggling to get by.”

It’s killing us,” said Mark Watne, a wheat and soybean farmer who is president of the North Dakota Farmers Union. Watne said he lost $3 per bushel of soybeans he planted this year.

I at least hope he was a Trump voter.

Farmers are patriots, & if they wish to remain so they will have to hang in there.. Simply put, going against trump or his great deals is unpatriotic..

& if they end up going banrupt?? So what, trump has many times, & he is now your president.... How cool is that.....

A lot of farmers did...:dunno:

Maybe @ the time having the guy from tv that knows absolutely nothing about farming, international finance, markets etc :blah: :blah: going after your best customer seemed like a great idea??

Trump's dirty filthy lying cheating history was readily available for all to see. I have no pity for anyone that ignored this truth.

Um. If they were patriots they would be growing food for the country. Not soybeans for China. All China does with those soybeans is feed pigs. I am sure U.S. farmers could, if they wanted to, find better crops that Americans would gladly purchase.

If they're smart they will..

Kinda sad we are talking about sending them raw agricultural materials & they are sending us highly manufactured finished goods...

Use to be the other way around......

in the battle for global hegemony between the US and China democrats want to give up because of soy.

If that were the case, China is winning, they have new investments and infrastructure projects all over the world since Trump took office, the EU is now a willing party, even the Far East is fragmenting with Trump's "America First" policies

That all started with Obama. And grew.

trump is the only one in the world who didn't see this coming. (Annoise notwithstanding)

The majority of the world will follow suit as a punitive action against the most incompetent POTUS in history.

It will take years to repair the damage to our trade agreements.

China shit all over Obama. He was afraid of them.

Wrong, Obama orchestrated TPP so that a bloc of influential nations could confront China, as we see now, Trump playing his trade war game alone isn't confining China, just the opposite, it is allowing it to expand, we even got the Far East fragmenting while Trump golfs

There is a modicum of truth to this thought. The only problem is that decades of monoculture have made it almost impossible to simply start growing something of value. We spend billions bribing farmers to grow corn, in exchange for votes (typically for Republicans). Same with soybeans, wheat, etc.

It takes a lot of manual labor to grow food. The farmers in questions would have to trade large machinery/toxic pesticides/Bayer tainted seed for human labor.

It doesn't happen overnight.

Correct. I wasn't a fan of TTP, or Obama's attempt to ram it through without Congressional oversight, but our current trade policy is cancerous.

Like many, I have no pity for the Heartland. They've reaped that which they've sown. Pun intended.

I bet that they all thought it would have a negative impact on some other ppl, not them. Just like the idiots on this board who think so what if the farmers are hurt, we'll just throw billions at them to assauge our group conscience. Except that the tariffs WILL affect us all -- more for food, more to buy appliances, cars, electronics, clothing, shoes, etc. Much, much more. It's not hurting China. It's hurting us... ALL of us.
