Farage reveals the shock leader inside Europe that will soon topple EU

If they re-establish the lira then that ought to help enormously, the euro is an albatross around their necks.

I lived in Germany in the mid '90's when the DM and Lira were still in existence.
I also lived in Italy from 2000 to 2001 (or was it 2001 to 2002, cant' remember) when the Euro became the currency. I found Italy to be much more affordable during the mid '90's before the Euro took over. It was damn expensive to live there in the early '00's. I wonder if Italians noticed that difference too.
But the bureaucracy in Italy was stifling compared to that of Germany and I heard a piece on NPR about Italians complaining about it.

BREXIT PARTY leader Nigel Farage has predicted “a massive rupture” inside Europe

Farage may be right. Italy will probably hold a general election this year, and the likely winner will be Salvini, leader of The League. Most people would consider Salvini to be hard Right, but it's said he will be collaborating with some harder ones: the Fraticelli d'Italia (something like that), described as "the respectable face of fascism".

Well done, the EU. That's what it's come to: a revival of fascism in Italy. And Spain. And ...

Anyone spotted a chap with a Charlie Chaplin moustache in Germany yet?

Maybe some things can be "ironed out" on Aug 24-28 at G7 ???
A little extra encouraging chat time with Italy as well ??? :awesome:

Trump tells UK's Boris Johnson he hopes they meet 'in the near future'

President Trump on Monday spoke by phone with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and told the new U.K. leader he hoped to meet with him "in the near future."

The two leaders discussed trade, global security and other issues, according to a White House readout of the call. Trump expressed appreciation for the U.K.'s partnership with the U.S. and told Johnson he "looks forward to meeting with him personally in the near future."

That meeting is likely to take place at the Group of Seven (G-7) summit in France later this month.

Trump spoke with Johnson from his golf club in Bedminster, N.J., where he is spending the week. The president has no public events scheduled for Monday.

The two men have spoken several times since Johnson became prime minister late last month, replacing Theresa May.

Trump has spoken fondly of Johnson, who was once critical of the president and has been a staunch advocate of Brexit.

"He’s a friend of mine. I think we’re going to have a great relationship. And Boris is going to be a great prime minister," Trump said in late July. "I predict he will be a great prime minister. He has what it takes. They needed him for a long time."

The president has expressed a desire to reach a bilateral trade agreement with the U.K., but the pact will be dependent on whether the country follows through on Brexit.

Johnson has pledged to adhere to an Oct. 31 deadline to follow through on the 2016 vote by U.K. residents to leave the European Union.

I said there is no differentiation with the two ideologies.

On another thread you asked me to tell you the difference between Hitler and Stalin. I did, and you shut up. Please do so again, it suits you. :)

Now for those with a grain of sense: the next prime minister of Italy, Salvini, will be collaborating with the heirs of Mussolini. What will this do for The Project? Why, it will promote ever-closer union of course! Cue Ode to Joy.

Please tell us you are not serious about the revival of a fascist Italy and Spain?

It appears much more about economic nationalism -then any ideological political shift.
Maybe Italians would like to see some economic growth?
Maybe Spain got tired of being the destination for Libyan migrants? ( Italy as well)

maybe it's about just getting the trains to run on time? I do respect your knowledge of the EU politics however

I'm not always entirely serious, dukkha. The fact remains that there will be fascists in the Italian government if a general election is held this year. The League and the Fratelli d'Italia would have an absolute majority between them. No doubt that's one of the things Farage was thinking of.

Btw, Steve Bannon is close with these Fratelli, if that's any reassurance.

Bannon is a leading voice on economic nationalism - and he needs the work after his comments.
“Sloppy Steve” Trump called him

I personally don't care who is in charge as long as the trains run on time

You can't tell the difference between the two. Hitler was a dictator. So was Stalin. Both were brutal. Both murdered millions, in Stalin's case, even many of his own. Both controlled the media. Both prevented free speech. Both prevented people from freely traveling wherever they wished.

Yeah meathead; lots of differences.....if you are an ignoramus.

Still stuck on stupid aren't you? I am always amused that leftists don't see the Fascism in their own ideological views. Yep, if you don't march in lockstep with their views, they will attack you, chastise you, call you a racist, call you a bigot....prevent you from speaking anyway they can......if you had a brain, you could comprehend the obvious.
