The sovietcommunists overthrew a democratic socialist provisional government in October 1917

Socialists were the first to take up arms against the soviet communists, while conservative aristocrats and capitalists sat on the sidelines or fled the country in a panic.

Socialism and communism are siblings.

One is purely an economic theory and the other is totalitarian government. Communistic governments enforce socialist economic policy along with prohibitions against religion; practice thought control etc. Sounds a little too familiar.

One way to prevent communism is to avoid socialism.

Soviet and Chinese communistm are political systems that use a planned socialist economy as a tool of totalitarian state control and coercion

In the same way fascism uses capitalist industry as a tool of authoritarian state control.
