Iowa corn farmers to Trump: The government put us in 'one hell of a bad situation'

California is the #1 agricultural producer in the US.

And they don't "feed us"...they sell their crops overseas, which is why this thread exists in the first place.

We import produce for consumption from Mexico, Central & South America.

If they sell their crops overseas, who feeds you?

Very true. But, they might overlook it for $16 billion.
Last I read, soy farmers were getting the lion's share of the Socialist program. I know wheat farmers were left out in the cold, and I'm not sure what % corn farmers are getting.

trump's insane tariffs against Mexico drove them out of buying subsidized U.S corn, further taxing the corn industry.

I understand we will be feeling it at the cash registers pretty soon now. From toys to trucks to tilapia, we are fucked as businesses pass on the taxes.
There is no plan B because no country has the manufacturing suite of services China has at the cost profile. Huge labor pool, developed engineering and dist
capability. India has A but wouldn't have B for 20 years. The US doesn't have the capacity of labor at all nor does any other country.

The law of comparative advantage and natural factor endowments, read up on it. We are all fucked. Thanks Trump.

Like all traditional tyrants and the Brexiteers over here, Trump has his great refuge in 'the idiocy of rural life'. Everywhere, for whatever reason, the everyday story of country folk is to hack away at their own testicles at the behest of some fat con man. Roll on total urbanisation, I say!

I am in rainy Pattaya just getting ready to go ten pin bowling at the PS Plaza. I used to be damned good but haven't been for years, hopefully I can get some of the magic back!!

I was pretty good as a kid but you quickly lose the muscle memory,, Have fun..

Just got back from hiking & got attacked by bubble bees (type of be wasp) that can sting you repeatedly... Well if you are not swatting their ass to the trail floor..

I guess we stepped on the nest & it stung me on my exposed arm & I immediately slapped it off but it can right back & I nailed her again..

Two fellow hikers near by got attacked as well-one twice & another 3 times through their clothes..

Other than that is was great..

Trade wars are easy to win, he hast tons of experience doing them, so who needs a stinking plan B..... You just keep doing the same thing over & over & expect a different result.:dunno:

Fuck me Taffy wants to turn the UK into a shithole like Tonypandy, where he lives!!

Maybe you, but they don't feed me, idiot.

Check the label on the fruits you eat. Most of them are imported.

The rubes got gulled, Trump will get right on it, right after coal comes back :palm:

The Iowa Corn Growers Association (ICGA) blasted the Trump administration on Tuesday, saying the government has put it in "one hell of a bad situation."

The trade association hammered President Trump for approving what it called 31 "unjustified" refinery waivers tied to ethanol, along with his year-plus trade war with China. Those two issues, combined with the effects of climate change, are forcing the value of Iowa corn to drop ahead of harvest season, the group said.

"Agriculture is in one hell of a bad situation right now. The government put us in this situation, and they need to help us get out of it," Vic Miller, a corn farmer from Fayette County, said in a statement. "It's time for President Trump to make rural America and the [Renewable Fuel Standard] great again. He made promises to American farmers and now it's time for him to keep them."

Seems they were a bit too cowardly to say "Trump" did it personally, instead blaming the nebulous "government"

Please help us Trump, the government hurt us" Cowards can't out and out say it.

So you live on foreign fruits?
Not me, my fruits (and vegetables )are picked locally except for the Florida oranges. The GF's bananas do come from Columbia though.
