The insanity and stupidity of the undemocratic Electoral College explained

OK! Let's say you have 3 children, and you tell them you are planning for next years vacation, and they have a choice, "Do you want to go to Disneyland in Florida, or camping in the Colorado Rocky Mountains?

Two kids immediately say, "Disneyland dad"! One kid say's, "Camping dad"!

As a father, would you then say, "OK, It's decided, we are going camping"! Would that be democratic? Don't think so!

Shouldn't a majority always win? You know it, and I know it! The answer is yes!

And how would your two kids that wanted to go to Disneyland feel? Do you think after by playing and going by the rules and voted, do you think they would be disgruntled and feel like they were treated unfairly! Justifyingly so!

Well, that is how the majority of voters feel when they win the popular vote and are told they lost the election!

I have 3 kids, my house is not a democracy and my kids know it. When I ask them where they want to go on vacation it is merely to get suggestions and ideas. Ultimately my Wife and I decide where we are going.

What you advocate for is not a democracy it's a "Mobocracy!" The USA is a Republic I keep telling you people this but you seem to be handicapped, no doubt by your public school indoctrination training.

In the USA we elect representatives to go to Washington. You have a member of the House of Representatives for the district you live within. And your state has 2 members of the US Senate. The purpose of this "Bicameral" system is so that the population is represented in the House while the Senate was designed to represent the States as equals. Until the 17th Amendment was passed the Senators were appointed by the state legislatures. In case you never learned this is screwel this is from Article 1, Section 3.1 and was changed by the 17th Amendment to the US Constitution and ratification was completed on April 8, 1913.

I believe the 17th was a great mistake and should be repealed to give the Senate back it's independence from the popular vote.

The Electoral College is laid out in Article 2, Section 2.1. If you want to get rid of it you need a constitutional amendment. Which you are never getting ratified.

The purpose of the Electoral college is as important today as it was in 1789. If the popular vote elected the President the huge population centers would be the only place that the candidates would campaign. Today just as in 1789 we know that would mean that the small states and states with small populations would be forgotten and become subjects of the large and heavily populated states. CA, NY, IL, FL and TX would elect the President. The rest of us wouldn't even need to vote.

If the Electoral College had not been in the original 1789 Constitution states like Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, South and North Carolina would have been subject to the whims of NY, PA and Virginia. For this reason to get the other states to agree to become part of the New USA the Founders decided to make the current system.

And finally the Great Founders of the United States of America did not believe in Direct Election of the Chief Executive. If you doubt this read the federalist papers. Alexander Hamilton wrote in Federalist 68, ” the Constitution is designed to ensure “that the office of President will never fall to the lot of any man who is not in an eminent degree endowed with the requisite qualifications.” The point of the Electoral College is to preserve “the sense of the people,” while at the same time ensuring that a president is chosen “by men most capable of analyzing the qualities adapted to the station, and acting under circumstances favorable to deliberation, and to a judicious combination of all the reasons and inducements which were proper to govern their choice.”

Hamilton also wrote on this in Federalist 8 and 9 and none other than the Great James Madison concluded the subject of dissent between the states in Federalist 10. These are two long to quote here so I suggest you read them yourself or since you seem rather inane I'd suggest maybe have your mother read them to you.

You see when you do research on your own you learn things rather than just regurgitating the drivel that they cough up on MSNBC and CNN every night. Not to mention the tripe that so many leftist websites are troweling out. The combination of this drivel and tripe has created a steady diet for these pablum puking libtards like this Adolf_Twitter idiot.

We Should Run The Presidential Election The Way We Run EVERY Other Election

Relegate this antiquated mess to the dustbin of history already!

Trump kicked hillary's ass with 306 oval office winning votes. Hillary was only able to round up a lousy 232, lol. Yep, 306 to 232! Three years later, and lefties are still whining about getting their asses handed to them in accordance with the constitution.

It is neither moronic nor is it outdated. You're a moron for even erupting with such banal stupidity. Again, we are a Republic of States and had you not flunked the 6th grade, you would know this. Moron.

If he doesn't like the American Electoral System he is welcome to fuck off to Mexico or maybe Canada he can see if they let him vote for the PM at all.

Not if I could convince people like you to appreciate what a true Democracy can do for us as a nation, and what we could do to set the best example of Democracy for the rest of the world.

What I don't get is the fact that Republicans have lost all faith in Democracy, and are showing little respect for it because they now fear Democracy.

Let's get back to Democracy pal! We may not always get our way individually. Our guy may not always win. But we can rest assured that the one in charge is who the majority of us want as a leader, and we may just have to work in the confines of that.

And we will never ever again have a president that is unpopular from the moment he steps into office and leaving the majority of the country in discontent.

silly child......the problem isn't that Trump is unpopular.......the problem is that demmycunts were driven insane from their loss in 2016 and have been unable to recover their wits.....people like that should not even be allowed to vote......(or own weapons)........

But, if we are truly United, we must be united in the way states vote in FEDERAL ELECTIONS!

we are, and have been since 1786.....

Every States votes should count!

And every voter's vote should count as well!

and that is precisely what we have.......every state gets two votes, every 580k people get one vote......everything is equal.....

or set up the way states vote

and yet you want a system that forces states to vote the way the majority of them do.........

If IRAN decided to go the American way and allowed their clerics and zealots to become the delegates that actually determines the votes- Would that be a free democratic election? Isn't that what they have now for heaven's sake?

I hate to have to say it, but that is the way we do it here! That's "3rd world" people! Wake up!!

no it isn't........our delegates are chosen by the voters of the state.......not appointed by a church.....

I am going to say this, and I am going to say this right now...

The first time a Republican nominee loses an election after winning the popular vote.................

You hypicrital bastards will be calling for an end to the Delegation process!

It just hasn't happened yet- BUT IT WILL!

not unless demmycrats figure out how to do an election.........they haven't........they still talk about national polls as if they had a purpose........

We have had 27 amendments fixing the constitution, This should be no, 28. get rid of the EC.
If the Dems were winning on it, it would been killed long ago and you would have backed it happening,

nobody has kept you from trying......except maybe the leaders of the demmycrat party who know its a stupid idea.......

Sounds like somebody needs to retake civics lol. Popular vote doesn't necessarily mean fair representation. If Presidents were elected purely by popular vote, then a handful of areas with the highest populations would be choosing the President for the rest of the country. It's called checks and balances.

Lol, why should one persons vote carry more weight than another’s? Why should a person in Montana’s vote be worth 3 times a person in Texas? Why should I be penalized for living in a populated state?

God you are a moron. Who the fuck said they did idiot?

Is Congress a representative body?
It has the Senate with 2 votes per state and it has the House with reps apportioned by population.

The EC follows the same formula- electors for being a state and electors for population
That seems ideal to me

First of all, that's not how it works. Second of all, the idea was that the House be elected by popular vote, Senate elected by state legislatures, President elected by delegates. Decent balance. Fair. And now post-1913, senate is elected by popular vote too. The scales are already tipped in favor of populated states...so I'm not sure what you're bitching about.

That makes sense if real estate is a sentient being, dumbfucking Trumptard!

It’s exactly how it works, it’s not one person one vote, it’s Montanans vote count 3.6 times more than a vote from a Californian. Populated urban areas are not equally represented in the Presidential vote.
