Had he attempted to learn the facts he could've at least said "calm down until we know the facts. Here it is. Here are the two possibilities.

1. The comment was intended to mean that his son would have been involved in a violent mix of street fighting, guns, drugs, burglary, and sex because his own daughters were involved in the same.

2. A 17 y.o. black kid who looks like a 12 y.o. based on media photos is an angel and was murdered by a racist half hispanic guy called white. That's exploiting racial divisions for political gains.

1. That is the interpretation that Trayvon haters put on Obama's comment. Just because you (pl.) characterize Trayvon in those terms doesn't mean Obama did. And I would say that a lot of those terms apply to Zimmerman but just get ignored. Street fighting, guns, spousal abuse, terroristic threats, aggravated assault, racial profiling and traffic violations do not make Zimmerman the poster boy for legal behaviour.

2. Obama never called Zimmerman any names. In fact, I couldn't even find any Obama comment mentioning Zimmerman by name.
