The Republican claim that Blacks, Asians, Hispanics, and Jews only vote overwhelmingly for the Democratic Party to get "free stuff" is about as racist a statement as one can make.
Though this claim is surprisingly common amongst conservatives.
Your claim pre-supposes that America's citizens of black, Jewish, Asian, and Hispanic descent are self-interested, selfish, and self-absorbed and simply cannot be trusted to vote based on principles, based on the interest of the nation and their community, or to vote on conscience.
Why exactly do conservatives have such a low opinion about Jews, blacks, Asians, Hispanics, and their ability to use good judgement to vote for the interest of their nation and communities??
The rightwing attempted to conflate this issue with "black face", which is a well known and widely recognized form of racial insensitivity manifesting from the context of America's history of slavery, racial discrimination, and I suppose even the history of Hollywood and theaters refusing to hire black actors.
I have never heard an Arab person holler in outrage about someone dressing up in a party costume as an Arab from the movie Alladdin, and darkening their skin to a swarthy Middle Eastern olive brown tone. There is no history or context in America concerning "brown face". I do not even recall hearing the word "brown face", until the phony rightwing poutrage ensued.
The only ones who are hollering for the smelling salts and fainting couch are Trump boot-lickers on jpp dot com.
Being a politicians, I suppose Trudeau has to be extra sensitive and proffer an apology for good measure, because any kind of cultural appropriation has the potential to look bad to at least a few people, if not society at large. And as a politician, he probably just wants to get this off the 24 hours news cycle, which an apology has the effect of doing.
Trump has never apologized in a single instance for a graving dock full of insults.
Others have mentioned this but if he did nothing wrong and its faux right wing outrage why did he apologize? Further reading the story it doesn't offend me but in 2019 we hold everything done in the past to today's standards. And in today's standards you need to stay in your lane and Trudeau didn't.
And to Gonzomin's comment that Trudeau is a Canadian and not a Dem, lefty or on your team this Rolling Stone cover would suggest otherwise.

It's not about proving anything. I don't care about Trudeau or if people are offended with what he did here. But it's false to say he's not a lefty or liberal. And when you have a (liberal) American publication writing a piece about wanting him to be our President pretty hard to say he's not on your team. (I will offer the caveat that the Rolling Stone doesn't speak for all liberals and this idea of being on a team is stupid)
