It's hard to understand. Almost all of us have access to the Internet, where we can bypass the spin and talk to real ppl about their experiences under national health care plans. For the most part what I've been reading about those experiences is positive. Like Tranquilus's cataract surgery, above. If you have the opportunity to ask real ppl about their real experiences and prefer to believe the lies told by U.S. conservatives fearful of a similar health care plan here, then you're willfully ignorant. You deserve to continue to pay exorbitant premiums and receive substandard services.

This is an interesting look at our health care costs versus other "wealthy nations," as the article calls us.

I've had cataract surgery on the NHS, and I don't need glasses any more. I've also had two major operations, but for which I'd be dead. In the 'States I'd have had to sell my house and leave my kids nothing, though, in fact, I'd obviously have taken an overdose instead. Aneurin Bevan was the greatest British politician ever, followed by Atlee, the greatest Prime Minister. Mr Corbyn is the only current person who'd have belonged naturally in that government.

Public funding of private services is a petri dish for corruption.

That goes for health care, prisons, or even the military.

The military should own their own munitions factories rather than fund the military-industrial complex.
Privately owned prisons should be abolished by law.
And PUBLIC health services should be tax funded.

The money should all go to the goods and services, not be wasted on profit.

Profits are for discretionary purchased items, not necessities like health care, the military, and correctional facilities.
