Worshippers in a suburb of Fort Worth, Texas heroically demonstrated the wisdom of our Founders and the superiority of Texas-style governance yesterday when an attempt was made to slaughter a large number of people at the West Freeway Church of Christ in White Settlement (can you imagine a pair of names more likely to elicit scorn from elitists?). Armed parishioners fought back and shot the gunman dead before he was able to slaughter more than two of them. NBCDFW reports:

Two parishioners and the gunman are dead after a shooting at a White Settlement church Sunday, officials say.

The shooting was reported at about 11 a.m. at the West Freeway Church of Christ in the 1900 block of South Las Vegas Trail.

During the service, a man went in and fired a weapon. Two church members, who were members of the parish's security team, returned fire and killed the shooter, who was pronounced dead at the scene, White Settlement Police Chief J.P. Bevering said.

The main difference between this church shooting and the church shooting in Sutherland Springs, Texas in 2017, is that thankfully there were armed citizens inside this church.
In the Sutherland Springs church shooting, the shooter was the only one inside the church who was armed. There was no one to stop the shooter until he went outside and a neighboring homeowner forced the shooter to flee when he started firing at him with an AR-15.

See how you framed this reflects your ignorance. It was a victory in that the gunman was prevented from killing more people. It was also proof that what we have been saying is true. Laws dont stop criminals from breaking laws. In this case premeditated murder our most severe crime. What stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. Usually police in gun free zones which takes minutes at best. We say that a properly trained civilian can be successful and this is proof of that as well.

It's sad that your side requires this type of proof. Common sense to others.

Vindication not victory buddy. Two good people died in that church. We have proved that it isn't the gun. Time for you to prove otherwise or concede.

This is what drives me crazy. The fact that you think the law prevented that sicko from getting a gun. Are you that incapable of critical thinking? So it, the law, stop the guy from getting a gun but it, the law, failed to stop his murder attempt.

Just as cocaine is illegal yet accessible the law can't prevent anything that a criminal wishes to break. Heck they get coke in prison for God's sake.

You can't fix what's wrong with money and meds. One day even you will understand that there are evil people out there. It ain't the gun or knife. It ain't the lack of aid. It's just evil. The sooner you understand that the safer you will be.

Carrying a gun isn't a guarantee but it's better than a helpless execution.

Head shots are easy from relatively close range. What makes it so impressive is that he did it in the face of a mortal threat. That old man has some extra large cohones and likely little fear of death.

Police who qualify with their handguns generally must keep about 96 percent of their rounds in the specified area or zone. Usually center of mass on a silhouette target. They are capable marksmen yet when faced with a mortal threat that percentage drops to around 23 percent. Same shooter same gun the only difference is that pressure of life and death. This CIVILIAN out performed law enforcement. He is definitely someone you dont want to run into if you are a badguy.

We need gun laws to protect the population. The law does this by punishing the law breaker after he has broken the law. This does nothing to prevent the illegal use of the firearm while the event is happening as many of you liberal non thinkers suggest. So the law wont stop it. It only takes those prone to break it out of society for a prescribed length of time. Which keeps society safer.

So while we do need gun laws, they do nothing to stop a criminal from getting one and using it criminally.
