Iran started a war about 200 years ago. We have started many, many in that time frame. I don't see them starting it, It was Bush who scambled the Middle east like an idiot. He created a power vacuum that many have tried to fill. Iran was actually a western leaning place before Bush.
And we also overthrew their Democratically elected government in 1953 and installed the Peacock throne. The Shah was a dictator who killed and jailed Irani people. Of course, that was because Mossadeq was talking about nationalizing the oil companies. The Oil Companies knew paying off the Shah was cheaper.

Supporting the British in Iran definitely backfired on us. Of course, nationalizing another countries' industries is theft, so, Mossadegh got what he deserved.
