Yochanan ben Zakai Synagogue was built by refugees from Spain. In 1492, the Christians in Spain expelled the Jews. They fled to Muslim controlled Israel/Palestine.

The Temple was destroyed by the Romans, and the Jews were exiled by the Romans. Some Jews stayed behind, but not many. As the Romans became Christian, they did not treat the Jews better. The Muslims were not great to the Jews, but we cannot blame the Muslims for the fall of the Temple.
