Airstrip One
Completely Effed
Yeah that would be poverty and drugs.
If you abolish the police, those two things will magically go away.

Nope. If you abolish War on Drugs.
Nope. If you abolish War on Drugs.
Yeah, that will also magically make poverty and drugs go away.
Decriminalizing drugs would help, but legalizing drugs would be a mistake.
Most of the discussion I've heard has to do with police functions. Activists seem to want less armed police involved in various situations, but this is unrealistic oftentimes. Granted, these are typically the same people arguing against having any cash bail system. Some other bad ideas they push involve reducing certain witness protections (the repercussions of which involved a federal informant being killed by MS13 in NY), while still others are arguing against prisons in general.
Granted, becoming crime infested doesn't seem to really change anything. Baltimore has been crime infested for decades, but that hasn't ended the one party control there.
Yes, I've heard about the idea of sending non-armed police representatives or counsellors to certain domestic or drug related situations. Let them try it. See how it works. Sadly, some people might unfortunately die as a result. Maybe if that happens, it will shut the people calling for it up. But either way, we will learn whether it was a good idea or a foolish one.
This will all work itself out soon enough.
The important thing to many people right now, myself included, is to get the clown currently occupying the WH back out on the street where he belongs and get a sane, sober, normal minded adult back in charge.
Depends on which drugs.

Legalizing pot basically just created a massive money laundering opportunity for cartels. It's similar to what happened after the repeal of Prohibition. The only way you can legalize something that has been illegal for a long time without having a large criminal element still involved is to make sure that the state controls the entire supply chain. Some states that have legalized pot are more restrictive than others in this regard, but none of them have really fully dealt with this issue.
It's very likely that a large portion of the tax revenue coming in from pot sales is actually from money laundered from illicit markets (such as heroin and human trafficking).
Exactly. It will make poverty and drug dealers and wars go away.
Are you trying to make fun of yourself?

Well I don't really understand much about that and yes it's a complicated issue.
But yeah decriminalizing drugs would be the first step in the process. Meth, for example, is obviously dangerous and whoever makes them should be charged. But the meth addicts should be sent to rehab places, not making a criminal out of them.
Tell me what happened during the Prohibition.![]()
Tell me why poverty, alcoholism, and crime didn't disappear after the 21st Amendment was ratified.
Lots of meth and heroin junkies will refuse rehab.

Then off to jail they go. Their choice.
Who's going to put them there?
