The simple fact is - a major in the DC National Guard who was a commander on site during the clearing of Lafayette Square gave a statement that there was not the violence that was claimed. This isn't really a new fact since Barr basically has said the same thing. When questioned about violence he referred to violent acts that were occurring the night before as the reason. He could point to no actions occurring at the time of the clearing of the square but instead said it was to prevent the same thing occurring as the previous night. The issue is they cleared the square 20 minutes prior to the curfew being imposed.
