President Obama is still providing leadership to our nation

Typically The current president would deliver the eulogy for a man with the stature of John Lewis.... instead Obama had to fill in.

Someone that got elected because his district had a built in guarantee doesn't have stature.

Lewis refused to go to Trump inauguration. Lack of class. Typical for his kind.

Hello Jarod,

It would have been out of place for DT to do it. And he wouldn't be able to do it without talking about himself, so it wouldn't work anyway.

Who was the "he" speaking politics at a funeral?

If it's Obama that you're talking about, then why are you so concerned about what he said, isn't Trump strong enough to weather a few words?????????????????????????

Lewis was a great civil rights leader, who helped change America for the better. That gives him stature.

It would be nearly impossible to create a district in Atlanta where Lewis would not be elected. Atlanta is bigger than a Congressional district, so to avoid Lewis getting elected, you would have to include bits of Atlanta is almost all the other districts of Georgia. It would be a master work in gerrymandering to deny Lewis a seat.

Then YOU shouldn't be "concerned" about Trump. Stick with Bama.
If you don't like a thread about Bama politicizing a funeral, why bother reading it or commenting?

It was racial gerrymandering that allowed him to get elected. Nothing else.

This is not complex. Atlanta is heavily black, and pro-civil rights. Atlanta is too big to easily gerrymander out of existence. Therefore Lewis was going to be elected.

Hello Jarod,

It wouldn't surprise me to learn he wasn't invited to the funeral, for the same reason he wasn't invited to McCain's funeral.

Obama was always clear that he has no interest in leading the nation, he only has interest in leading those who agree with him.

Your first seven words were spot on.

With the emphasis on ‘was’. The problem for Lewis and some others is they ‘won the war’. In the sixties, it was a war that desperately needed to be won and Lewis and MLK were on the front line. But as time went on, instead of becoming irrelevant, the said and did things in order to stay relevant.

Unfortunately, not so many of those things benefited the black community or minorities. Lewis was an important figure in the civil rights *era* but he became a relic.

It’s politically incorrect but it is what it is.

Black leadership since the late 60's has been Dog Shit, and this guy was part of the problem.
