Black leadership since the late 60's has been Dog Shit, and this guy was part of the problem.
Yup.
Bill Crosby was saying things that needed to be heard, but yeah.

No buts.....Cosby was in the end right about so much....and he got crucified for it....and I am not talking about his erotic adventures.....the black community hated him because he was so close to the truth, and that he was speaking where white people could hear blacks being talked about like their shit stinks like everyone elses.....this was considered treason to his race.
All of which partly explains how we got to where we are today.
Why would the black *community* hate him?
I can see where people who have a vested interest in the ‘race industry’ might. Not to say he didn’t do all those things he was convicted of.
It wouldn't surprise me to learn he wasn't invited to the funeral, for the same reason he wasn't invited to McCain's funeral.
This is not complex. Atlanta is heavily black, and pro-civil rights. Atlanta is too big to easily gerrymander out of existence. Therefore Lewis was going to be elected.
It's not complex. I'm glad you agree that Lewis couldn't get elected without a racially gerrymandered, black majority district.
It is not "gerrymandering" that makes Atlanta majority Black. It is residual segregation. It would take a lot of gerrymandering to make a district in Atlanta that Lewis could not have won. You would need to split Atlanta's population among all the other 14 Congressional districts.
Or put another way, Democrats consistently get nearly half the votes in Georgia, but only a third of the Congressional seats. Georgia is heavily gerrymandered in the favor of racist white Republicans.
It's gerrymandering that made Lewis' district almost 60% black. It's the only reason that agitator could get into the Capitol other than shining shoes.
Almost half the people of the state of Georgia support him. They are very concentrated by area. It would be almost impossible to gerrymander districts in Georgia to not get Lewis elected.
So the Republicans who gerrymander Georgia instead try to concentrate his district. And remember, it is the Republicans who gerrymander Georgia, not Lewis supporters. Lewis' district was concentrated so much that he would win by over 90% every time. This meant that nearly half the people of Georgia would only get about a third of the Georgia Congressional seats.
As for Lewis being a "race agitator", yes he was. Most Americans are grateful to him for his agitating for racial equality. He took some extreme beatings, and remained non-violent. He was one of the last great heroes of desegregation to still be alive.
Georgia has a lot of blacks and guilt ridden white, liberal white trash.
Face it, the boy couldn't have won without a built in guarantee.
Georgia has about 10 million people. Over 3 million are black. More than 1 million are whites who would support Lewis. So try to carve out 14 districts of 700,000 people which does not include more than half of almost half the population... It is impossible. So Republicans did the best gerrymandering for them, and tried to concentrate the districts they will lose by as much as possible. That way they can get two thirds of the districts with barely half the voters.
An 80 year old black man is a "boy" to you? Whether you like it or not, almost half the people of Georgia wanted Lewis to be a Congressman. That meant he was going to win a district in Georgia. You may not like the Blacks and whites who supported Lewis, but that really does not matter. There were enough of them that Lewis was going to get a Congress seat.
In the last Governor's election, Stacy Abrams (a black woman) lost by about 1%. Black politicians are getting ready to win the state in general, not just districts in the state.
Typically The current president would deliver the eulogy for a man with the stature of John Lewis.... instead Obama had to fill in.
eulogy
[ˈyo͞oləjē]
NOUN
a speech or piece of writing that praises someone or something highly, typically someone who has just died.
Whether you understand it or not, half the people of Georgia couldn't have wanted Lewis since the population of that district was just slightly over 793,000 in a State you admit has 10 million people. 793,000/10 million is only 8%, a far cry from 50%.
And he did a lousy job of it as usual. Instead of a eulogy
Obama delivered a political screed that had nothing to do with a eulogy.
Almost half the people in Georgia want Lewis to be in Congress(that would be Blacks plus whites who are antiracism). It is in the 4 to 5 million range, of which about 700,000 live in Lewis' district.
To gerrymander Lewis out of office, you would need district 4 to 5 million people into 14 districts so that they do not make a majority in any of them. That is not possible. So when the Republicans gerrymandered Georgia, they choose to put as many supporters as possible in Lewis' district, knowing that any supporters beyond 50% is just waste.
You may want to be eulogized by praising your racism, and therefore Obama would be a terrible eulogizer of you. Lewis wanted to be eulogized for his opposition to racism, and picked Obama well to do that.
Once again, Obama did a fantastic job of eulogizing Lewis, so Lewis was right to pick him. Obama would not do as well of a job in eulogizing you, or trump, so I agree it would be a mistake to pick him.
Obama also gave heart felt eulogies to Bush(informally) and McCain(formally). trump sent out a vague tweet about Bush, and still sends out nasty tweets about McCain.
And he did a lousy job of it as usual. Instead of a eulogy
Obama delivered a political screed that had nothing to do with a eulogy.
Obama's "eulogy" was nothing more than the typical ranting of a race pimp.
Obama's eulogy was perfect for him.
[RACIST INSULTS I AM NOT GOING TO INCLUDE]
Lewis was such a piece of trash he refused to attend a President's inauguration. Bet he didn't fail to attend his fellow coon's inauguration?
