White presidential candidates have been picking white vice-presidential candidates for hundreds of years. I think repubs would be thrilled to get more of the black vote than they've been getting in elections but they don't know how to make it happen.

If black voters are Democrats or liberals, I wouldn't expect them to listen to Sowell and Steele any more than I'd expect white liberals to listen to conservative white authors. People are always going to pay more attention to those who align with their own political beliefs.

This is like asking me to listen more to Ann Coulter and Michelle Malkin than to Rachel Maddow or Paul Krugman. Not going to happen.

That's just crazy, Sowell and Steele are true heavyweight intellectuals and should be listened to far more. Sadly many blacks dismiss them as Uncle Toms, without ever reading a single word by them.

As for Krugman he was totally wrong about Brexit and that's just for starters. Don't have much time for either Coulter, Malkin or Madcow come to that. But the salient point here is that I am very much aware of them and their political leanings and will at least check them out.

they were not vetted for demographics -that's how Dem's make appointments instead.

They make a list of desirable judicial temperament , and look at the appellate service whom meets that criteria
and can get confirmed
