Newsom: State can't afford White House unemployment benefits plan

The state of California does not have the financial wherewithal to afford the White House's plan to extend expanded unemployment benefits during the COVID-19 pandemic, Gov. Gavin Newsom said Monday.

Newsom said in his daily coronavirus briefing Monday that the state would have to cover 25 percent of the costs associated with a $400 per week unemployment insurance payment, as outlined in a memorandum President Donald Trump announced over the weekend.

That 25 percent would amount to the state spending between $700 million and $3 billion in taxpayer funds per week. The state would have to make sharp cuts to public services to foot that bill, Newsom said...

But it can afford to give health care and welfare benefits to illegals and to invite more over....Maybe he should have thought of that before he forced everyone to be unemployed.

Perhaps that idiot Newsom should use the money they have received for actual Covid issues rather than providing housing for the homeless, which is what they have spent a lot of it on. California is the perfect example of what this country will become if Biden wins and Peolsi and Schumer lead the congress — complete bankruptcy.

Ah, given to the crisis of the last eight months, few of any States can afford it, majority of States if any can not run deficits, and Donny has been of little help, in fact because of Trump, States ran up higher expenses having to bid against each other to acquire needed resources to combat the virus

There are a lot of states that are having to use emergency reserve funding built up from their lotteries etc. to set up testing centers, providing ample Intensive Care Hospital beds, morgue trucks, Food banks, distancing prisoners in their prisons, funding schools so they can set up distancing so the kids can go to school, and etc. due to this virus being allowed to take root in the first place by this foolish president.

As those emergency funds are drying up- THEY ARE GOING TO BE GOING IN THE RED TOO.

Don't blame the states- You can blame Donald Trump for that!

So it's not just California- it's all 50 states dude before too much longer.
