The bottom of this is very simple. trump is too ignorant of history to know that the 2nd world war did not end in 1917. The flu that he mentioned did not occur until 1918-1919. Has trump lost his mind?

Agreed on the gotcha game. But what's good for the goose. Even if Trump misspoke (he probably did), the Spanish Flu did not end World War I either.
 
Little Boy and Fat Man precipitated the end of the war in the Pacific and the Americans and their allies...the Russians too, ended the war in Europe.
 
Side note on the thread, a little trivia, what history refers to as the “Spanish flu” actually didn’t originate in Spain. Spain was neutral in WWI, and one of the few countries reporting flu statistics early in the pandemic thereby they got the tag

Correct. In fact it may have originated in Kansas, or at least the primary spread may have come from an Army Base there.

I get a bunch of non-referenced assertions.

It goes to a tweet that has video from months ago when Trump made this gaffe.

Anyone can make a mistake, but I think its very funny when someone like Trump* (who's supporters jump on any and all fumbles of words or facts of his opponent) makes such a silly misstatement.
