More than likely, it's due to the fact that Japan's lifestyle is the polar opposite of that of Americans. Their immune systems are clearly much stronger, and the absence of comorbidities likely has a lot to do with Japan's results. Americans are typically slobs that consume garbage every day as part of a regular diet.
Why do you suppose that families forced family members into nursing homes, instead of caring for them at home?Probably kept their vulnerable populations and nursing homes locked down AF.
Sure would have saved us some grief.
Because most who got it, died. And...in a trump like fashion, the medical field was pushing deadly levels of aspirin as a cure. It ended up killing everyone who tried it.
Why do you compare Covid to anything else in history? Did you do that with Aids?
Of course my issue is with the study. You're the one pushing it as proof of herd immunity. It actually dispels that nonsense.
If you were offered a vaccine that had the 'possibility' of working, and a probability of killing you, what would you do?
Probably kept their vulnerable populations and nursing homes locked down AF.

What happened to the Spanish flu?
gawd almighty, now the goofballs are saying there might not be herd immunity?
EVERY DAMN VIRUS EVER HAS had herd immunity or the pandemics would never end.
and the upcoming vaccine (likely)also will contribute to herd immunity
Whatever gets you through the night.
It certainly did not stop "virusing". If you released the Spanish Flu right now, it would start killing just like it did before. Influenza is always looking for a crack in our defenses.
Correct. And that's what everyone has been saying all along...that herd immunity will require 70% of the nation to die.Answer doesn’t work.
To get to 100 million deaths, the Spanish Flu almost certainly hit the herd immunity threshold.
And then the virus was done virusing. Though it likely stayed endemic in the population to some extent for awhile. Not sure where it went, ultimately. Probably mutated into oblivion.
Correct. Patients were transferring Covid to staff.Yep.
I want to add an anecdotal story. A friend of mine was staying in the hospital for a lung infraction. Every time the (masked) nurses walked in, he put his mask on. They noticed, ... and told him he didn't have to wear a mask because he had tested negative for covid.
Correct. And that's what everyone has been saying all along...that herd immunity will require 70% of the nation to die.
If you want to volunteer, go right ahead. Spanish Flu reached those numbers in large part due to the military infestation, and subsequent spread when they returned home.
It's the conclusions that have you confused. They proved that herd immunity does not exist with Covid. It will take a vaccine. You’re dodging lol.
The authors are *legitimate scientists* and their study was published by a reputable journal.
Who’s anti-science now?

So the President doesn't need to wear a mask.
Phew! Glad we cleared that up.![]()
'Possibility' does not belong in any scientific study that has been concluded. That's part of the theory phase of the study. They said it remained a possibility.
I pasted the quote.
I'm glad he doesn't wear one. If his theory were correct, nor would his staff. But we already know that he hid the data re. Covid. So the President doesn't need to wear a mask.
Phew! Glad we cleared that up.![]()
