Darth, have you ever taken an official oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States? Do you think oaths are to be broken or do you think they are for life?

I strongly believe they are for life. Even if it means taking the lives of those who break them. Legally, of course. :D

Yours was a little before my time. My dad was career Army, two tours in Vietnam as a pilot. Just to prove how Gung Ho and stupid I was in those days, I wanted to go to Vietnam in the worst way. The Army had a program where it took high school graduates then put them through Warrant Officer school for six weeks, flight school for 6 months then be in Vietnam as a UH-1 copilot. That was my Plan A; to be in Vietnam fighting the fucking commies by the time I was 19. I wasn't even looking at college despite my parent's protests.

Then those fuckers in Washington cut the program when I was a HS Junior thus missing it by a fucking year. The pilot program reverted to a college degree requirement. Something that caught me flat footed at age 17. A Plan B was required and enacted. The good news was that I qualified for the Nathan Phillips Vietnam Veteran Award. :D

Well Carp, with Hillary’s comments about Biden not conceding in the event he loses on election night, both sides have crossed line of ‘norms’.

That said, I expect Trump will vacate the office if he’s defeated. He tends to not live up to the caricature, so to speak. And I anticipate the same out of Biden if he loses.

My worry is the Democrats militant arm in the event Trump wins. That could actually get ugly.

That should worry all of us.

My dad was in the Navy during WWII as a Boatswain's Mate and was in the first wave to go into Japan for the occupation , my son served in the navy 1990-1996 on the Saratoga CV 60

I was on the Saratoga when I cross decked from the United States Marine Corps to the Navy in 86 and did one deployment with her, including all workups, until she went into SLEP.

She was decommissioned in 1994 long after I was on her. When the Super Sara went into SLEP, my squadron thought we were on Easy Street: No ship, no time at sea. WRONG. We were assigned to take the Independence, another Forrestal class carrier, out of a 3-year SLEP, work her up and take her to San Diego from Philadelphia.
