Why I Think Latinos Will Break For Biden

Hello Dutch Uncle,

If the Tech companies are forced to start charging customers, a lot of that shit will stop.

What an idea.

If I understand this correctly, that would mean no more giving away things like social media accounts in return for gathering all the personal data of the consumers, then packaging that data for sale to marketers and political operatives, selling it for big bux? That practice turns the consumer into the product and empowers the tech giants, showering them with mega profits in return for selling out consumers.

There would be an adjustment to data collection. A lot of that has already been done by allowing people to opt out.

Not a lawyer, but once a fiduciary bond is established, the rules automatically change due to a few hundred years of legal business precedent. The result would be banning assholes screaming false claims just like a movie theater can throw out a person who refuses to consider the rights of others.

Hello Dutch Uncle,

That's normal. Remember Brown v. the Board of Education? Loving v. Virginia? Times change. Usually for the better since it grants more freedom. As for LinkedIn, I was never a business guy.

My post was more about uninformed people giving "informed" opinions on Twitter. Misinformation just muddies the waters. Trump is pushing for change in the Tech companies/Social media; the result will be charging for access to the Internet, especially charging for social media like Twitter. Not only will that restrict access to the people who can't afford it, but it establishes a fiduciary contract between company and customer. The part Trump doesn't understand is that it will make it easier for him to be banned from Twitter if he gets his way.

HE wants THAT?

Surprising.

What's in it for HIM?

That is the question we always have to ask with him.

I don't really equate laws that stated black and white people can't go to school with other or can't marry each other with the use of gender pronouns today. The latter has nothing to do with government regulation. The government isn't forcing people to call one another 'they' instead of he or she. It's a societal thing. Whether is catches on remains to be seen but in certain progressive political circles Latinx is the preferred term for those who used to be called Hispanic or Latino.

Look at the bigger picture. Also look at how terms like miscegenation, mulatto, half-breed, high yellow and quadroon have evolved into terms like multiracial and blended.

Sure, there are laws about bias, but it's silly to not understand the impact, negative or positive (e.g. Prohibition) those laws have on American society and, later, American culture.

IMO, most of the "53 gender" stuff is bullshit. OTOH, it's silly to ignore the facts that human sexuality isn't fully understood and that Americans emphasize both personal freedom and rights of the individual. In short, if a person wants to call themselves "Latinx" or, as I often do, check the "other" box on race, that's their choice.

God Bless America.

Sure, in 20 or 30 years it's possible we don't say boy or girl anymore and everything is non-binary. Latinx is a term used today by a relatively small number of people. In 20 to 30 years maybe it's the term we all use or maybe it's something that's totally disappeared from our lexicon. But I don't believe legislation will be the cause either way.

Trump likes to run his mouth without thinking through the consequences. That is one of his major appeals to his fans; being "unfiltered". While it's entertaining for intelligent people (like foreign leaders) to laugh at some of his bullshit, it's sad when voters are so poorly educated and/or low IQ that they think what Trump says is 100% true. This forum is a terrific example of the problem.

Trump is pissed about being "censored" on Twitter, a service he gets for free and where he is #7 for the most followers. He thinks he can strong arm the "Tech Lords" into bending the knee to him but what he will accomplish is almost certainly going to backfire on him and his supporters (and several others).

Sorry, I had added to my post which would have replied to your comment:

No doubt. Latinos overall favored Biden.

Even in Miami where Trump did the best with them, he only got 45%.

The rest went for Biden.

And Biden did better with Latinos in other regions.

In Arizona, they came out in droves to push him over the top.

It’s hardly going out on a limb to say any Democrat Presidential candidate will win the Hispanic vote. It’s like predicting Democrats will win the black vote or Democrats will win the Jewish vote or Republicans will win the white evangelical vote.

It’s all about the percentage and Trump got higher of the Hispanic vote than was expected. Don’t know how much you are on Twitter but numerous pundits have written about it.

The post-election demographics analysis will be interesting reading, mainly to look for shifts.

If rich Miami Cubans loved Hillary more than they love Joe Biden, that is their own problem. Did they all just get a lot richer with Trump so that's why they voted for him? I find that deplorable. Even rich people would do well to love their fellow Americans more than that. Loyalty to wealth over country is not admirable. That's not putting America first. Not that Trump ever did, either.

The big question is why the Republican party refuses to be more inclusive of the direction America is headed. They are the 'fighting progress' party.

I’m just saying read more about it if you think the growth in his Hispanic support cane from only ‘rich’ Miami Cubans because you are mistaken.
