Electoral College Watch Thread

Hello Dutch Uncle,

I think liberals are more accepting of varying attitudes than conservatives.

One Trump supporter to another: 'Right on. I completely agree with you. Anybody who doesn't is a threat!'

One Biden supporter to another: 'We agree on some things, but let's talk about our differences.'

Probably, but as we are discussing, neither side have a monopoly on violence against those with whom they disagree. That's the hate you were talking about. I was simply pointing out it's not one-sided.

Hello Dutch Uncle,
I am fine with people disagreeing with my views. That is what America is all about. The thing that really speaks is the hatred. That lets me know that people who oppose my views are not thinking clearly, and are driven by emotions instead of logic.

In the past I have proudly displayed bumper stickers showing my support for popular figures. I won't do that anymore. I now consider that too dangerous. There is just too much hatred out there now.
BTW, my MAGA hat is in Russian. :)

Can't dispute that. I would like to think my fellow liberals are as mature and wise as hoped, but that is fantasy. Reality is there are good and bad people on both sides. I am *so* over the we/they thing. Anybody who thinks one side is all ideal and the other side is all disgusting is just not being realistic.

BTW, my MAGA hat is in Russian. :)

Too funny!

Hello BartenderElite,

So, what does Fox do if NV gets called soon?

Unless they retract AZ, they don't have much choice but to declare Biden Prez....

They wouldn't be alone. If Nevada gets called for Biden then the AP will also declare Biden the winner. AP has already called AZ for Biden. Any additional win for Biden (besides AK) will put him at 270 or above.

btw, none of the media sources declare anybody president. They are simply making calls on who won the election. Of course that is not official and there is a verification process which takes place during the interregnum.

They would then begin referring to Biden as the President-elect, but that is a non-binding title.

That's the problem with hate. It's contagious. It's related to fear and fear is contagious. Obviously more so than COVID-19. ;)

...funnier because it's true. :D

Wow.

Georgia down to a 0.2% lead for Trump with 99% of the vote counted.

Looks like that one is going right down to the wire.

They are counting the votes in Fulton County, where Democratic Atlanta is.

Their Mayor is Keisha Lance Bottoms, just to let you know who they vote for.

Hello Dutch Uncle,

That doesn't explain the choice of paths since most people are susceptible to peer pressure as a natural human characteristic.

It's a matter of degree. Sure, most people are susceptible to peer pressure but which people are more susceptible than others? My contention is that country folk are more susceptible to peer pressure than city folk.

When you live in a small town, you know everybody and everybody knows you. If people start putting out Republican yard signs, you don't dare put out a Democratic one unless you wanna be cut out of everything and have no friends.

Drive around in a rural area during election season. If the majority favors Republicans, that's all the yard signs you're gonna see. Just by driving around, looking at yard signs, you might get the idea the region is 100% Republican. But then a funny thing happens come election day, something like 30 - 40% of the votes are for the Democrat. Why didn't THEY have any yard signs out? They KNOW their choice is probably gonna lose but they vote for him anyway. They know their votes are private. But they won't put a yard sign out.

Peer pressure.

If people have yards not much bigger than the house, then you are in Suburban Soccer Mom territory, not rural territory. ;)

IMO, you are forgetting the circumstances; there's a reason some people choose to live in the city and some people choose to live in the country. The Suburbs are a mix of the two. As such, people who choose to live in one of those areas will have similar beliefs, desires and goals as others who choose to live there. In turn, they will share political beliefs that support their mutual beliefs, desires and goals. All that red and blue on the maps are evidence of the contrasting points of view.

Just heard on NPR News:

!!! BIDEN TAKES THE LEAD IN GEORGIA !!!

Maybe it is time for Trump to begin working on his concession speech...

A Democrat has not taken Georgia since Bill Clinton, and before that, Jimmy Carter.

And thank you, Jimmy Carter, for serving.

Georgians know a Democrat can do a good job. They elected Carter as their governor while Nixon was president. They liked him so much they then sent him to the WH.

The tally still stands at Biden 264, Trump 214.

The ballot counting continues.

The AP has not yet called these final 5 States:

AK
GA
NC
PA
NV
