Jill Biden has a PHD

Why the fuck do they care? The rightys are quibbling to try and diminish her. She is not in office. She does not have power. Just leave her out of your right wing nastiness.
 
Jill Biden has a PHD is the thread tittle, not Jill Biden is a Dr, and it is factually not correct and reflects poorly on they who wrote it.

I think it's a parting salvo as they realize that their #MalignantMessiah and #MelaniaTheStrumpet's sun has finally set. Trust that they'll use this to fire up their base against the "Elites" in the future... and undermine any programs our new First Lady tries to promote.

You are uninformed. There are some schools that offer a Ph.D in education, but that is a more rigorous degree than a Ed.D.

College students make fun of their undergrad education courses for being easy and useless. Graduate education courses are even easier because they are largely attended by public school teachers who work all day. Being easy attracts more students to give the professors graduate courses to teach and reimburse the department at a much higher level than undergrad courses.

My comments have nothing to do with those arguing the pros and cons of Jill Biden. I am only commenting on education classes.

I know lawyers (college instructors) who want to be called doctor. In past years a law degree was an LL.B (bachelor of law). Today, it is the JD (Juris Doctor). Same degree, different name.

She has a doctorate degree, and has the professional right to be identified as a doctor. You, me, or any rightwingers here would be proud to support our wives, daughters, sons acquiring the title of doctor, if they achieved a doctorate in education.

The only reason Trumpettes are angry about Jill Biden is because they are crying bitter tears of despondency.

Didn’t you say you work in a University for years? Would make sense you have a good understanding of all this. (Admittedly I was unaware of the WSJ article until now so I had no idea what this hub bub was all about.)

This has nothing to do with Jill Biden but on a personal note my old man got his PhD and was a grad school professor for a number of years. I can remember being younger and every few years I’d hear someone referred to him as a doctor. I remember turning to my mom once and saying “why did they call him that, he’s not a doctor.” Haha.

You are uninformed about both education and me. I am not a right winger (you make unfounded assumptions) and don't hate education. I spent 45 years as a teacher both in secondary school and college.

Have you never taken an easy, useless course? I'm sure I have taken more graduate education classes than anybody on JPP. I know how other faculty members look down on Ed.D degrees. Many community colleges will not hire Ed.Ds because many have very little graduate work in their teaching field. And universities never hire Ed.Ds except in education departments.

That intense partisan hostility is coming out from our posters who find it necessary to attack or defend those on the other side. I think the WSJ article is stupid but obviously resonated with the Republicans. Now, I am being attacked because some posters cannot distinguish between criticizing graduate education courses and attacking Jill Biden.

I didn't really like it when any professors insisted on being called doctor. Some students were not being disrespectful when they called somebody mister and were hurt when they were corrected because of an incorrect title.

A good friend taught criminal justice and had a law degree and insisted his students call him Dr. Coratti (including his wife when referring to him in front of his students). Other faculty saw it as somewhat pretentious and there was an ongoing debate about whether a JD was a "terminal" degree for purposes of promotion since there is a masters and doctoral degree in law school.
