America Retreating from Religion

:) I'm going with the Scientists, the ones that don't mind being proved wrong or being able to change their minds.
You can stick with the Cults of thousands of years ago that believe if you don't believe the same as them, they will kill you.

A careful study of history would inform you that the study of the natural world has always been affiliated with religion and religious devotion throughout history.

Theology and religious devotion powered the study of the natural world in many contexts throughout history.

1. This fact gives the lie to the facile presumption of an inherent “conflict” between science and religion. That conflict is a relatively recent development.

2. Religious institutions were the chief patrons of natural philosophical inquiry throughout the pre-modern period.

3. The notion that study of the natural world was an inherently religious activity was common from the Greeks all the way to Newton.

Science denying American Protestant bible thumpers are a recent development on the historical stage.

Yes. Cypress seems to have been brainwashed as a youth and has no ability or desire to have 'impure' (original) thoughts on issues of 'religion'.
He's going to Heaven and will sit on the Right side of God's Throne. His Pure Devotion means his Future of Eternal Life is locked in.

I generally lean to agnosticism.

Yes, he is way lost.

Did I ever tell you the story of how I was going to Heaven?

I must have been around 4 years old and after attending Sunday School where I learned how beautiful, magnificent, splendid, Heaven was, I decided to kill myself and not waste anytime here on Earth when I could be in Heaven. I got up early one day while my Mom was still sleeping, got dressed and went outside and sat in the middle of the street, figuring a car would run me over. It took a little while but finally this Truck came driving down the street. I looked at it and it had one of those large wooded Bumpers in front. I sat there looking at it. Then I would look away, figuring it would be better if I didn't look. It was very slow moving. Finally, as it got to me, I could only see this big wooden Bumper, and it stopped. The guy got out and asked me what I was doing. I said "I'm going to kill myself and go to Heaven". He said "Where do you live". I pointed and said "Over there". He picked me up, carried me to the House and knocked on the front door. My Mom answered. He said "I found him sitting in the street". My Mom took me, said thanks and said "What were you doing?". I said "I was going to kill myself and go to Heaven". My Mom put me down, said "Don't do that in case it's not true", then walked back and went back to sleep.

At that point I'm thinking, ... Wait! What? :) It's like 'Maybe it's true, maybe it's not'. WTF. Maybe someone should mention this BEFORE I try to kill myself!?!

Anyway. Critical Thinking can begin at an early age.

Sure, and I am Superman's brother in law.

You appear to believe everyone should play on the same team.

When it comes to religion, I do not play on teams.

The bible thumpers get just as angry at me when I own them on evolutionary science, as certain atheists get mad at me for daring to adhere to the historical record on Christianity and scholarship.

Good story. Truth is the enemy of religion.
