America Retreating from Religion

I bring up the Spanish Inquisition as a point of the viciousness, the pure diabolical evilness of a group that professes "Jesus is Love".

30 Years War. I'm good with this as Good Christians killing each other in the Name of God.

"The Thirty Years’ War was a 17th-century religious conflict fought primarily in central Europe. It remains one of the longest and most brutal wars in human history, with more than 8 million casualties resulting from military battles as well as from the famine and disease caused by the conflict. The war lasted from 1618 to 1648, starting as a battle among the Catholic and Protestant states that formed the Holy Roman Empire. However, as the Thirty Years’ War evolved, it became less about religion and more about which group would ultimately govern Europe. In the end, the conflict changed the geopolitical face of Europe and the role of religion and nation-states in society."

The Spanish Inquisition only had about 3 to 5 thousand executions.

Rather than one of the biggest European genocides it's one of the smallest.

In the 1600s Lutheran Sweden was actually the most prolific of mass murderers.

They mass murdered German Catholics by the millions in The 30 Year War & Millions of Polish Catholics in the Deluge.

My Solution to Religion in America

Churches need to pay property tax, which federal law prevents them from being assessed.

If you want to go to Church, pay for it and do not ask your fellow citizens to subsidize your institution.

Then we will have religious freedom.

indeed

I have been trying to limit myself to crimes which are directly attributable to Catholicism or State Atheism. To cases where there is a clear cause-and-effect.

Catholicism was only tangential to the economic forces which led to the discovery and subjugation of the New World.

Similarly one could attempt to blame Soviet State Atheism and it's hostility towards fundamentalist Islam for the invasion and atrocities in Afghanistan. But the truth is atheism was not the driving force.

Spanish Catholic colonial crimes in the New World were bad.

But, British Protestants were still the most prolific colonial criminals.

Why do you have to keep time traveling back 500 years to cite a religious crime against humanity? I cited an epic crime against humanity which happened as recently as the 20th century.

I have never been one to attempt to paint history as one in which Christians were the bad guys, and aetheists were the good guys.

Crimes against humanity have been committed by Christians, Muslims, capitalists, fascists, imperialists.

The state atheism of the USSR, communist China, and the Reign of Terror in the French Revolution resulted in millions of deaths in the name of atheism and anti-clericalism.

Terror and crime are wrong no matter who commits it.

Whatever crimes have been committed by Christians and by Capitalists, western civilization would never have achieved what it did without our deep linkages to capitalism and Christianity.

The point with the 'Spanish Inquisition' ... was the Torture. Sadistic, Hateful, Evil. All in the Name of Jesus.

Always a sign of smartness. Killing other people to show them who's God is REALLY the REAL ONE.

The only ones that say "Jesus is Love" ... and then kill you if you don't believe them are 'Christians'. Can you say HYPOCRITES?

Killing people over Land, Resources, Money, is understandable. Killing people over whose God is the REAL ONE ... is STUPID. Especially when you claim your God is all about Love.

Example: Shias killing Sunnis. Sunnis killing Shias. Isn't this HILARIOUS. Two groups that claim how wonderful their religion is, ... and then kill each other to prove it.

The Religious Cults are a Problem. They're into Magic and Mysticism. They shouldn't be allowed any support by the State.
You seem to promote them as 'good people'. Like Trump, they are lying sacks of shit. Their Goal is to create a Theocracy. Period.

King Henry of England probably killed more.

But, that's cool because British Protestants are so cool they are untouchable. ( rolls eyes)

It is estimated that anywhere from 57,000 to 72,000 people were executed during Henry’s 37 years’ reign, but this is likely to be an exaggeration.

Henry’s break with Papal authority

Multiculturalism doesn't work.

Not all people are leaving religion. The guy who led the plot to kill Michigan's governor explained to the court the god gave him permission to kill her. If god says it, who are we question him? God works in mysterious ways.

Dude. Do you have a problem with reading comprehension? TORTURE, ... why the diabolical TORTURE?. Can you explain to me how Torture and 'Jesus is Love' co-exist?

Good Post. Explains all you really need to know.

I'm from California, you can't get more 'multicultural' than that. So ... your claim is baseless.

It's amazing how near or far more recent immigrant groups come from they tend to see Blacks & Anglos in the USA as trash.

PS.
California is where most of the worst gangs USA got their start.

Not exactly a success story.
