Karl Rove on Chris Wallace: "It will take years for the Republican Party to rebuild"

your "side" burned down multiple police stations and caused billions of dollars in damage and violence to peoople not even a few months ago.

Yawn. So the Trumpists who stormed the Capitol are bad? Or the people who attacked police stations (who did not represent BLM nor the left) are not bad? See how that works?

Then the 2010 Shellacking happened. So better take Rove’s prophecy with a grain of salt.
true enoough.
I suspect Rove is pulling a Bush/#neverTrump.

I have 0 respect for Republicans.
Dems have shitty ideas, but at least they realize we are in an "us v them" situation
with compromise a long gone ideal

good. bye. dont let the door hit you on the way out.

I hope you enjoy Biden -gonna be fun seeing caravans, high taxes, more regs, and fascist bannings
you can wash your hands of it like pontius pilate -but you cant escape it

Nore regs are good. they are what keeps the people from suffering the health and pollution consequences that corporations and the wealthy would visit upon the people. I do not know why rightys think removing regulations is good. Biden is going to tax the wealthy and corporations who have loopholds their way out of paying taxes at all. You will not pay more. There is no such thing as Fascist bannings.

Dutch Uncle trolls everybody. He has no convictions about anything.

A lie, but I'm very happy to see I could bring two very different people together in unity to spread hate about me. :)

Lindsey Graham is on Fox News pushing to drop the impeachment, promises Trump will see everything differently in 5 months, agrees with the stimulus bill, but "won't bail out blue states who mismanaged their funds", hits dropping the impeachment again calling it a "Scarlet Letter Impeachment". I'll have to look that one up. I know about the old meaning, but not sure how this applies.

Graham is irrelevant

Hate to say I called it. Well, I don't - but I certainly wasn't the only one.

I don't like to see it, though. We need at least 2 strong parties in the U.S. One decided to take a detour down the rabbit hole, and he's right - it will take them many years to recover.

Agreed. It looks like the Republicans are going to have to rebuild for a few years here, maybe past a Harris Presidency in 2024.

It also opens the door for more Republicans to flock to the LP rather than stay with a Cult of Personality.

In a panel discussion 2/3s of the way through today's Chris Wallace show on Fox News, the conversation turned to the disposition of the Republican party post-Trump. Karl Rove talked most about it while another panelist told how the party was split 50/50 between those who put the Republicans first or Trump. Rove said it was a civil war between the groups and whether Trump had a significant influence on the party after next week would determine the direction of the party. It was also implied that the party was headed for collapse if something wasn't done.

The question is when do they start rebuilding? After such a huge defeat, normally a party starts immediately. Many in the base refuse to accept this defeat, so are refusing to even start rebuilding.

On a side note, CNN ratings are soaring while Fox's has plummeted.

https://www.cnn.com/2021/01/16/media/fox-news-cnn-tv-ratings/index.html
Since the day after the election, CNN has been No. 1 in the 25- to 54-year-old demographic that the cable news business is built on.

Fox's audience has always skewed older, so Fox has always had total viewer bragging rights, even when CNN notched victories in younger demographics. But for the past nine straight days, CNN has also been No. 1 in the total viewer race.

This surge has been driven by the big news out of Washington, from the insurrection to the impeachment vote. January 6, which began with Senate runoff news and continued with the pro-Trump riot at the Capitol, was CNN's most-watched day in its history.

MSNBC has been No. 2 many days, benefiting from some of the same factors but not nearly to the same extent.

This month to date, CNN has averaged 2.08 million viewers throughout the day; MSNBC has averaged 1.74 million; and Fox has averaged 1.41 million. Even in prime time, when Fox is at its strongest, it has been stuck in third place. Already, CNN's post-election victories have enhanced CNN's position in the marketplace. The network has been running "MOST WATCHED CABLE NEWS NETWORK" ads on the air this week.

My guess is the evening of the 20th.

The Trump base is their biggest obstacle.

There's an old saying that diplomacy is learning how to say "Nice Doggie" while reaching for a rock. The indications are the rebuild will take "several" years. To me that's six years; Harris's midterms.

Graham voiced his real feelings when the adrenaline was still pumping through his veins. He was then summoned to Air Force One and reminded of the consequences for disloyalty.

He was giving Trump a public handy as fast as he could. It reminded me of the maxim "Caught between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea".
