I never hated Michelle. I did criticize her waste of taxpayer's money for her lavish personal vacations, but nothing more. I never criticized her for anything else.

I could care less actually. I think that unless they are directly involved in politics, and Melania isn’t, then the spouses and children of political leaders should be off limits from ad hom political attacks.

It’s the decent and civil thing to do.

I’d say the same, but she promoted birtherism and had a Twitter account that made political statements. She was fair game.

In principle I agree. But this thread was not about ad hom political attacks. It was about how popular First Ladys are, which is a fair question to ask. First Ladies have a public role, they represent America on the world stage and are expected to take a leading role in charitable, nonpartisan causes. Americans generally have a more favorable view of Laura Bush and Michelle Obama, than they do of Melania Trump. That is a fair measurement of public opinion.

Agree 100%. I see she is not following tradition in working with the incoming First Lady to discuss her causes and knowledge of the position, I assume it is because the donald would get huffy, but she probably should have done it anyway.
Funny thing is I never even knew there was a popularity rating for the First Lady, but should have known that everyone gets rated these days.

Well, while in general I agree, the First Lady does actually perform functions that can and are open to discussion. As for the Children I agree that they should be left out of discussion with one exception, any children that do work in the administration are fair game, meaning trumps oldest children are open game his youngest son is not.
