Live Feed: Trump's Defensive Argument

Hello Diesel,

van der Veen is completely winging it. He looks and sounds like a first year law student who didn't read the assignment before he was called on in front of the class.

The House Managers are killing it. They listen to the first few words of each question and then dive into their notes. They separated their focuses. Someone knows where to find everything.

It is an impressive team.

And I think we all know their goal as much as they do. Of course they are trying to get a conviction, but short of that, we all understand the likely outcome despite anything they present, they intend to make the defense look as silly as possible; and as you say, they are crushing it.

Hello christiefan915,

Here are the first few paragraphs.

"The violence that erupted at the Capitol on Jan. 6 wasn’t born of a speech given that morning by President Donald Trump. It was, instead, a product of an effort that stretched back to the prior April — or, really, from before Trump was elected in the first place.

Before the 2016 election, Trump invested a decent amount of energy on claims that presidential elections were rife with voter fraud. It was transparently an effort to inoculate himself against what seemed to be a likely loss in that year’s presidential race. Then he won — and his claims that voter fraud were rampant were more narrowly tailored to explain why Hillary Clinton got nearly 3 million more votes than he did, or so they said."

That's right.

Good point. He did all the same stuff before 2016. Only difference being he accidentally won. And Yes, I remember the pretend concern over the popular vote, the fraud commission which was later dropped.

Hmm, wonder if the House managers should have brought up about the fraud commission being dismantled. If they did, I missed it.
