And now, we see the hypocrisy of it all. A Calipornia teachers’ union president who pushed to keep schools closed was caught dropping off his daughter at a private school where she gets in-person classroom teaching .

And now, we have that same thing happening to the folks in the white lab coats who say we need to stay inside.

Dr. Eric Feigl-Ding has been quite vocal on social media about the dangers of reopening schools and how kids can spread the virus, though SCIENCE™ says that’s not really the case.

Still, Dr. Feigel-Ding, who was featured in a Biden campaign ad about how Joe would wave his wand and erase COVID from our shores, had a lengthy thread about how reopening schools will cause a spike, despite schools not being sources of so-called super spread.

Also, he’s not a medical doctor—I forgot to mention that.

He didn’t finish the program. His background is in nutrition, but still credited as a “COVID expert.”

And after all his panic spreading, we know that he and his family actually absconded to Austria in order for his son to have in-person learning. The impetus for this move was that his son, like many other children suffering under the lockdown, appeared to exhibit mental health issues from the isolation.

So, as reporter Jordan Schachtel noted, what’s ironic about this hypocritical odyssey Doc Ding undertook is that he knows the mental health risks of these school lockdowns…but is pressing this panic nonsense anyway.

"A Covid Mystery" proclaimed a failing New York Times newsletter. "Why has the death toll been relatively low across much of Africa and Asia?" Like a know-it-all kid in 7th grade, I thought: "Call on me! I know this!" and clicked on the item. But to my surprise, the account that followed completely failed to mention what I thought was the obvious answer.

David Leonhardt's piece notes the fact that, against all expectations dating from the early stages of this pandemic, poorer countries of Africa and Asia have suffered only a small fraction of the death rates from the coronavirus that wealthier nations have experienced. In the U.S., we've had 1,580 deaths per million inhabitants. Italy has had 1,651, whereas Egypt has had 109, and Nigeria 10.

Leonhardt lists some potential causes for this unexpected result. Could it be that poorer countries have younger populations? They do. But that doesn't quite account for the disparity.

Another potential cause of the differential: It's possible that people in Africa and Asia have had exposure to similar pathogens in the past and that their immune systems were primed for COVID-19.

Some countries' leaders responded better than others to the pandemic. But that doesn't solve the puzzle either, writes Leonhardt, since many of the nations with low death tolls have had government responses that have been as weak and scattershot as countries with higher mortality. Leonhardt closes by concluding that multiple factors must be a work. That is almost certainly right, and yet, there is one factor he failed to take into account.

Pulitzer prize-winning writer and cancer specialist Siddhartha Mukherjee addresses the same subject in the New Yorker, concluding that, "For many statisticians, virologists, and public-health experts, the regional disparities in COVID-19 mortality represent the greatest conundrum of the pandemic."

This seems odd because just last week, the World Obesity Federation issued a report showing that there is a clear link between excess body weight, especially obesity and COVID-19 mortality. Overweight was more predictive of severe COVID-19 illness than any factor with the exception of age. They found that in countries where less than half the adult population was classified as overweight, the risk of death from the coronavirus was about one-tenth the level found in nations where more than half are overweight or obese.

People who are overweight or obese are more likely to get severely ill and to die of COVID-19 even after controlling for factors such as sex, ethnicity and income.

No one wants to suggest that people are to blame for their illness. Americans can take responsibility for their own health by shedding those extra pounds.

Dr. Jay Bhattacharya, a co-author of the Great Barrington Declaration, said the COVID lockdowns were the "biggest public health mistake we've ever made.

A recent study from Massachusetts concludes there is no substantial difference in COVID cases among students or staff with three feet versus six feet of distance.

Meanwhile, Maryland is the latest state to re-open and lift its COVID restrictions.

Not true about some, my wife is a technical school teacher, and loves being there, and loves her students! She also refuses to take part in any union functions, despite having to pay for it!

didn't you or some other bozo say the other day 73% of the covid deaths were of fat people? so, using math, if we have 575,000 deaths since trump screwed the pooch so bad, let us say he really only killed 27% of them, because the others were chubby and they don't count. that still means trump killed about 155,250 Americans by lying about how dangerous it was and telling everyone he had it under control for over a month while he did nothing.

africa is hot. africa hot. we know the flu and covid do not do as well when the weather is warm. africa is not densely populated, and does not get a lot of international travel. and they are young, because the life expectancy there is shorter. it is not that hard to imagine they do better in this case when it comes to the death rate, although I believe their infection rate is about as high.
